In the crazy world of Hollywood, it’s rare to find a marriage that is actually able to stand the test of time. That’s what makes the former Full House star Candace Cameron Bure’s decades-long marriage to the ex-professional hockey star Valeri Bure so special.
Cameron Bure and Bure are preparing to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary in June of this year. While their marriage may seem perfect from the outside, Cameron Bure is admitting that they’ve had some “really low lows” during their time together.
‘Some Really Low Lows…’
Cameron Bure made this confession on Tuesday’s episode of her eponymous podcast. She was interviewing the Bachelor alum Madison Prewitt at the time.
“I know that during some of those low times — I wouldn’t even say it’s low —you’re just kind of, like, sitting in the shallow of the valley,” explained Cameron Bure, 49.
“Where you’re like, ‘This isn’t the best, but that’s just life. We’ll just kind of go through it,'” she continued. “[There have been] lots of highs and there’s been some really low lows.”
Cameron Bure went on to admit that she and her husband have felt “stuck” at times. “stuck.” However, they “didn’t have the confidence or just the straight-up courage to be honest enough with each other to say the really hard things.”
“Because I know they’re gonna hurt your feelings and I know you’re gonna hurt my feelings by hearing it, by saying it,” she added. “I know that we can feel stuck. We want to get unstuck.”
Cameron Bure and Bure, 51, married in June of 1996. This came after they were introduced to one another by Cameron Bure’s Full House co-star Dave Coulier. They are parents to three adult chidlren: daughter Natasha, 26, and sons Lev, 25, and Maksim, 23.
Cameron Bure’s Previous Marriage Comments
This isn’t the first time that Cameron Bure has publicly discussed the “rough seasons” in her marriage. In July of last year, she revealed that her marriage “went south” in 2020. At the time, she credited her son Lev with saving their marriage and allowing them to see that they they would “make it through.”
“[Lev] said, ‘You know, I know I haven’t been married. I’m just a young kid. And so it’s probably hard to take marriage advice from someone this young [who] never experienced it before. But I don’t need to be married to know what the word of God says,'” Cameron Bure recalled.
“[He] just had his Bible open on the couch and just talked about it,” she recounted. “I’ll never forget.”
Back in November, Cameron Bure told Us Weekly that her relationship with her husband hasn’t always been “incredible” and “wonderful.”
“There were times of deep brokenness that I felt,” she confessed.
In that interview, Cameron Bure credited her faith in God with helping her to build her marriage “back up.”
“But God is in the restoration business,” she concluded. “[God] loves to restore and make all things new, and He certainly has.”
We applaud Cameron Bure for being so open about what her marriage is really like. Here’s hoping that Cameron Bure and Bure have many years of health and happiness together to come!
