It’s been a decade since Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from her fellow Hollywood A-lister Brad Pitt in 2016. A bitter battle followed that stretched out for eight long years, with their divorce not being finalized until December of 2024.
To this day, Jolie and Pitt are still embroiled in a nasty court battle over their French vineyard Château Miraval. Despite this, insiders are now saying that Pitt is desperate to finally make a “truce” with Jolie in 2026.
Pitt, 62, and Jolie, 50, are currently in a massive legal dispute over the sale of Château Miraval. Jolie sold her share of the vineyard to a Russian billionaire in a move that Pitt claims violated an agreement that they made, as he did not approve the sale. He recently scored a victory in court when his request to see Jolie’s private messages in relation to the purchase was granted by a judge.
As this legal battle rages on, sources are claiming that Pitt wants to find a way to make peace with Jolie. Indeed, after ten long years, it seems that Pitt has finally had enough of fighting with her in court.
Pitt Wants A ‘Truce’
“The word within Brad’s camp and the people he listens closest to is that 2026 needs to be the year that Brad finally wraps up all this legal fighting with Angelina,” an insider told Closer Online. “Ten years of fighting is long enough, and nobody caught up in this mess is getting any younger.”
“The point is, no matter how much time and money Brad has plowed into the fight, this has to stop at some point in the next twelve months,” the source continued. “Both sides have made their points. And it’s time to find a compromise and put this whole thing to bed. No matter how uncomfortable that may be in the short term.”
Pitt’s Hollywood career is currently peaking, as his latest movie F1 recently earned four Oscar nominations. This has caused him to reassess his priorities. Pitt is eager to focus on his Hollywood career and put his wars with Jolie behind him forever.
“His and Angelina’s reputations have both been damaged by this conflict. And it’s also distracted them from the tasks that got them both rich in the first place, which is making hit movies,” the insider explained. “FI was a huge milestone for Brad as the most popular and successful movie of his career. But maybe it could have been even bigger if Brad wasn’t still embroiled with his legal fight with Angelina.”
Pitt And Jolie’s History
Pitt and Jolie met on the set of the 2005 movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith. At the time, Pitt was still married to the former Friends star Jennifer Aniston. They soon split and he immediately began dating Jolie.
Pitt and Jolie went on to marry in 2014 in a ceremony at their winery in rural France. Jolie then filed for divorce just over two years later in 2016. She filed for divorce days after an alleged altercation on a private jet flight. There, Jolie alleges that Pitt was abusive to her and their six children.
A decade later, Pitt is “exhausted” by all of the legal battles with his ex-wife.
“Brad has never wanted to look like he’s trying to play the victim. So it’s not something he talks very openly,” the source said. “But he essentially lost his family in this. So it’s been absolutely devastating and anyone who knows him knows what a toll this has taken.”
“He’s had so many sleepless nights. He’s exhausted and sick of the endless legal meetings that have been going on forever and cost an absolute fortune,” the insider added. “In a lot of ways it feels like this battle has defined the last decade of his life.”
In recent years, Pitt has since found love again with the jewelry designer Ines de Ramon, 33. This has made him even more eager to move on. Pitt is also hoping that making a “truce” with Jolie will help him rebuild his relationships with their six children.
“He’s in his sixties now. He’s in love again, and he wants to enjoy this chapter without constantly worrying about his next legal move,” the source stated.
Jolie Feels ‘Totally Justified’
As for Jolie, however, she reportedly feels “totally justified” in her legal battle with Pitt.
“If he really wanted a resolution he could have just taken the original deal without trying to force her to sign an NDA,” the insider said. “Or at the very least he could have shown some good faith and allowed her to move out of the country with the kids the way she wanted to for the last few years.”
“She still feels like he’s trying to wear her down, which is why she’s refused to back down in court,” the source concluded. “If Brad really wants this to end, he’s going to have to make some serious concession. That’s the only way to peace because Angelina absolutely won’t give in. She feels totally justified in this fight.”
This has clearly been an extremely messy and difficult situation for everyone involved. For the sakes of themselves and their children, we can only hope that Pitt and Jolie are able to make some kind of truce.
In the end, life is simply too short for this kind of thing. Both Pitt and Jolie would be better off moving on with their lives. Let’s pray that they can do that!
