It’s been nearly three years that the Hollywood legend Betty White died days before what would have been her 100th birthday. Now, the former Golden Girls star is being honored with her very own stamp!
White To Get Her Own USPS Stamp
On Friday, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) announced that White is being memorialized on a 2025 Forever stamp.
“An icon of American television, Betty White (1922–2021) shared her wit and warmth with viewers for seven decades,” a USPS spokesperson said in a statement. “The comedic actor, who gained younger generations of fans as she entered her 90s, was also revered as a compassionate advocate for animals.”
Designed by USPS art director Greg Breeding, White’s stamp was illustrated digitally by the Boston-based artist Dale Stephanos. It is based on a 2010 photograph by celebrity photographer Kwaku Alston. No date for the stamp’s release has been announced at this time.

White’s Life And Death
White died on December 31, 2021 at the age of 99. This came just 17 days before what would have been her 100th birthday. The cause of death was a stroke that she suffered in her final days.
“It was a mild stroke,” a source said at the time. “She died peacefully in her sleep.”
Three days before her passing, White told People Magazine that she was “so lucky to be in such good health and feel so good at this age. It’s amazing.”
White credited her longevity partly to being “born a cockeyed optimist.”
“I got it from my mom, and that never changed,” she explained. “I always find the positive.”
When it came to her diet, White said with a laugh, “I try to avoid anything green. I think it’s working.”
White had an iconic career in television that spanned decades, going all the way back to the 1950s. Her career included memorable roles in beloved sitcoms like The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Golden Girls, and Hot In Cleveland. Meanwhile, on the big screen, White had roles in movies like The Proposal, You Again, Bringing Down the House and Lake Placid.

More USPS Stamps Coming
USPS will be announcing more stamps honoring “pop culture icons” in the weeks to come. One of those who is set to be honored is Allen Toussaint, “the virtuoso pianist, singer, songwriter, composer, arranger and producer responsible for scores of hits across multiple genres,” who will be the 48th stamp in the Black Heritage series.
“This early glimpse into our 2025 stamp program demonstrates our commitment to providing a diverse range of subjects and designs for both philatelists and stamp enthusiasts,” Lisa Bobb-Semple, stamp services director for USPS said in the statement.
“This year, we are continuing several of our popular series and commemorative anniversaries, while introducing some exciting new stamps,” she continued. “Additionally, several of our mail-use stamps, which are printed based on demand, will be updated this year.”
White is a true legend, and there will never be another one like her. If anyone deserves their own USPS stamp, it’s certainly Betty White!
