It’s not your usual scene to see the FBI outside of the A-list Hollywood star Ben Affleck’s home, but that’s exactly what happened back in January. Now, Affleck is speaking out to reveal the true reason behind their visit.

Affleck Discusses FBI Visit

Affleck, 52, just revealed to GQ that he wasn’t even home when the FBI agents showed up. In fact, he only learned of their visit through media headlines, just like the rest of us did!

“As it turns out, the FBI did, in fact, visit my house,” Affleck explained. “But this is pretty revealing, right? So I come home and I see there’s a story with sources that say, ‘Hey, the FBI was at your house.’ I’m like, ‘Well, this is strange.’”

“So I call them and say, ‘Hey, FBI, were you at my house? Do you want to talk to me?’ ‘Oh, we don’t know.’ I get transferred along,” he continued. “Finally, somebody who is actually responsible for what was happening was like, ‘Oh, we had no idea that was your house.’ There was a break-in of a federal official’s home in that area.”

“So the FBI went around and whoever lived there, the FBI rang their bell, but because there are photographers sitting outside and these guys have their FBI jackets on, then it’s: The FBI has visited your house,” Affleck added.

FBI Responds

FBI spokesperson Laura Eimiller confirmed to Fox News at the time that agents were stationed in the area.

“Members of the FBI’s Ground Intercept task force are conducting activity in the area of the Palisades fire. Agents and our local partners may be visible throughout the area, including at residences, for this reason,” Eimiller said.

Affleck has since revealed that he was misinformed by the media about the reasoning behind the FBI’s visit.

“Whoever wrote the story made up something about how it was related to an investigation about a drone that I guess did crash into one of the helicopters two or three miles up Mandeville Canyon,” he stated. “Turns out, no, it wasn’t about that. In fact, we were very far from where the drone was. So it’s like: You’ve seen this event about the FBI at my house. I had no idea. My only involvement was to track it down, figure it out.”

‘It’s Absurd And It’s Ridiculous’

Affleck was then asked if it “feels odd … that some stranger will show up in front of you and be like, ‘I know you got a FedEx package yesterday?'”

“I’m aware that it’s absurd and it’s ridiculous,” he replied. “There’s nothing newsworthy at all about the day-to-day events of my life or the conversation I have with one person or another person that’s photographed.”

“What I’ve ended up focusing on is: Look, I know what’s going on in my life,” Affleck concluded. “And also, really more importantly, my kids know.”

The FBI visit occurred at an inconvenient time for Affleck. Indeed, January was the same month that his divorce from Jennifer Lopez was finalized. They split last summer after just two years of marriage.
