Back in January, we reported that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez had finalized their contentious, public divorce after just two years of marriage. Now, Affleck is speaking out to make some comments about Lopez that are nothing short of surprising.
Affleck Reemerges With Lopez’s Children
Given how brief Affleck’s marriage to Lopez was, one would think that there is no love lost between the two of them. That’s why it came as a surprise when Affleck, 52, showed up on the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of his new movie The Accountant 2 with Lopez’s two children along with his own.
“It’s a great night. The kids are here, Jen’s kids are here. I’m very, very excited,” Affleck told Entertainment Tonight. “I’m proud of the movie, I love the movie and I love when all the kids come out. It’s really fun, it’s exciting.”
Affleck shares Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13, with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner. Meanwhile, Lopez, 55, is the mother of twins Max and Emme, 17, who she shares with her ex-husband Marc Anthony.

Affleck Gushes Over Lopez
Reporter Nischelle Turner pointed out to Affleck that it’s “really dope” that he brought Lopez’s kids to this event. Indeed, she praised him for making a point of “continuing those relationships” with them. That’s when Affleck surprisingly took the opportunity to gush over Lopez.
“Listen, I don’t read the stuff online much, and sometimes I get the sense that people perpetuate this idea of … they wanna find something negative to talk about,” Affleck said.
“For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them,” he explained. “I love her kids. They’re wonderful. She’s [an] enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to.”
“I’m thrilled that the kids are here with me,” Affleck concluded. “The relationships that you can have with children like that, it’s the joy of my life. And those kids are amazing, and I’m glad that this is a movie they want to come to.”
How sweet is that?!

Affleck And Lopez’s History
Affleck and Lopez met in December of 2001 on the set of their infamous movie Gigli. They became engaged the next year, only to shock fans by calling off their planned wedding in 2003 just days before it was set to take place.
Affleck and Lopez each went on to marry and divorce different people. Affleck married the former Alias star Garner in 2005 and had three children with her before they divorced in 2018. Prior to Lopez, Affleck’s union with Garner was his only marriage.
Meanwhile, Lopez married the singer Anthony, staying with him from 2004 until they divorced in 2014. He’s the father of her twins.
Affleck was actually Lopez’s fourth husband. Her first marriage was to the actor Ojani Noa, who she was married to from 1997 until 1998. She then married her backup dancer Cris Judd in 2002, and they divorced the next year.
Affleck and Lopez reunited in 2021, and they married in July of 2022. Lopez filed for divorce exactly two years later, and their divorce was finalized in January of this year. While it’s sad that their marriage didn’t work out, there’s clearly still a lot of respect between Affleck and Lopez. If only all former couples could be so lucky!
