It’s been one year since Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck finalized their divorce after just two years of marriage. Now, insiders are speaking out to say that Lopez and Affleck remain close despite their split.
Lopez And Affleck Stay Close
According to one source, Lopez and Affleck’s blended families have kept them close.
“Ben and Jen may have had their differences romantically, but as far as blended families go, they’re a perfect fit, and it’s a big reason why they still make time to hang out and keep the friendly dynamic going,” an insider told Radar Online. “They get together fairly frequently, any chance they get, really, and that’s something Jen and Ben both enjoy very much.”
Affleck, 53, is a father of three children: Violet, 19, Fin, 16, and Samuel, 13. He shares them with his ex-wife, the former Alias star Jennifer Garner, 53. Meanwhile, Lopez, 56 is mom to 17 year-old twins Emme and Max. She shares them with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, 57. The five children are reportedly close, and this has caused Affleck and Lopez’s friendship to continue.
“Jen and Ben still have a ton of love and respect for each other,” the source continued. “Their friendship is very much intact, and you only have to look at them when they’re together to see that the vibe is totally chill. There’s very little awkwardness between them.”
Lopez And Affleck’s History
Though they were only married for two years, Lopez and Affleck’s love story goes back decades.
Lopez and Affleck met in December of 2001 on the set of their infamous movie Gigli. They became engaged the next year, only to shock fans by calling off their planned wedding in 2003 just days before it was set to take place.
Lopez and Affleck each went on to marry and divorce different people. Indeed, she married the singer Marc Anthony while he married the former Alias star Garner.
Lopez and Anthony were married from 2004 until 2014. Meanwhile, Affleck was married to Garner from 2005 until 2018. During that time, they had three children.
Lopez and Affleck reunited and quickly rekindled their romance in April of 2021. They then married in July of 2022.
Sadly, it didn’t take long for their marriage to go off the rails. Lopez filed for divorce in August of 2024, citing their date of separation as April 26 of that year. Their divorce was finalized in January of 2025.
“It is disappointing for both of them that the marriage didn’t work out, especially as they went into it with such high hopes,” the source explained. “They truly believed it would be their happily ever after, but alas, things weren’t meant to be.”
Will Lopez And Affleck Reconcile?
Since Lopez and Affleck have been spending so much time together lately, however, fans have been wondering if they’ll reconcile.
“It’s not totally impossible to imagine them together again,” the insider said. “They’re both impossible romantics who would be lying if they didn’t admit to quite often wondering what might have been.”
“They both know the circus factor of Bennifer 3.0 would set them up for a whole lot of pressure they could do without,” the source added. When it comes to these two, however, never say never. “Ben and Jen have done it before, and the love and attraction is there. Only time will tell.”
Lopez and Affleck have stayed quiet about one another since their split. It will certainly be interesting to see if they’ll ever give their love another shot!
