Nicole Kidman has been one of the biggest Hollywood stars for decades. That’s why it will likely come as a surprise for you to learn that she nearly gave up Hollywood to live a simpler life on a farm in Nashville, Tennessee.
Kidman Nearly Quit Hollywood
Kidman, 57, almost quit Hollywood forever after she gave birth to her first daughter with her country music star husband Keith Urban back in 2008.
“When I gave birth to Sunday, I was like, ‘I think I’m pretty much done now,’” Kidman revealed earlier this month. “I’d moved to Nashville, we were living on a farm, and that’s when my mom actually said, ‘I wouldn’t give up completely. Keep your finger, sort of like, in it.’ And I’m like, ‘No, no. I’m done now. I’m done.'”
Despite this, Kidman’s mother was insistent about her advice.
“She’s going, ‘Just listen to me. I think keep moving forward,” Kidman recalled. “Not saying you have to do it to the level you’ve been doing it, but I wouldn’t give it up completely.’”
In the years since then, Kidman’s career has flourished. She’s earned multiple Oscar nominations for movies liked Rabbit Hole and Being the Ricardos. Kidman has also starred in hit shows like Big Little Lies and Lioness.

Kidman’s Normal Life
Despite her A-list Hollywood status, Kidman is just a normal “citizen” when she’s home in Nashville with her husband and children. When she isn’t working, she enjoys doing charity work to help her community.
“I like being a part of something not about my work, not about who I am, none of that,” Kidman previously said in an interview with Elle magazine. “Just a citizen who’s in the world. And my kids love that, too, when I do that.”
“I have a very full life with people that I love,” she continued. “I’m raising daughters, I’m a wife, I’m a best friend. I’m a sister, I’m an aunt. I have deeply intimate relationships with people. And that, to me, is the meaning of life – and then taking care of what we leave behind, who we leave behind and how we do that, and our sense of respect for that.”
Kidman is a mother of four. She shares her older two children Bella and Connor with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise. Meanwhile, Kidman and Urban, who have been married since 2006, are parents to daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.

Kidman And Urban’s Love
Even after nearly twenty years of marriage, Kidman and Urban are still madly in love.
“I like being asked out, which he still does,” Kidman recently told People Magazine. “Seven nights ago we went to dinner in New York. We love Japanese food, but I’m open [to everything]. I like not knowing where he’s going to take me. Surprise me, baby!”
Kidman is currently earning rave reviews for her performance in the drama Babygirl. Indeed, she’s been nominated for a Golden Globe for it, and it’s been speculated that she could score an Oscar nomination for the film. Only time will tell if that actually happens!
