Millions of Americans are currently celebrating Thanksgiving with their families. One person who won’t be joining in the celebrations, however, is the Oscar-winning Hollywood star Angelina Jolie.
Jolie Is ‘Grossed Out’ By Thanksgiving
Jolie has long been known for boycotting Thanksgiving. Indeed, back in 2016, Jolie’s friends spoke out to claim that she’s “grossed out” by Thanksgiving as a holiday.
“Jolie hates this holiday and wants no part in rewriting history like so many other Americans,” the actress’s friend said. “To celebrate what the white settlers did to the native Indians, the domination of one culture over another, just isn’t her style. She definitely doesn’t want to teach her multi-cultural family how to celebrate a story of murder.”
Jolie shares six children with her ex-husband and fellow Oscar-winner Brad Pitt. Three of the children came to her via international adoptions.
“Angelina gets so grossed out by Thanksgiving that she has made sure her family will not be in America this year on Thursday,” the insider continued.
At the time of this interview, Pitt and Jolie were still together. If Pitt ever wanted to enjoy some Thanksgiving turkey and stuffing, however, that was not permitted by Jolie.
“If Brad wants turkey, he will have to cook it himself,” a family friend concluded. “For Angie, it will be another day when America tries to rewrite history.”
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt at the end of 2016. A bitter divorce battle ensued that wasn’t finalized until December of 2024. No word on whether or not Jolie’s disdain for Thanksgiving had anything to do with their split, but it certainly couldn’t have helped!
Alicia Silverstone Bashes Thanksgiving
Jolie isn’t the only celebrity who has gone woke by boycotting Thanksgiving. The former Clueless star Alicia Silverstone is also passionately against the holiday.
“Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and I have mixed emotions about it,” Silverstone said in 2024. “I love this truly American tradition of family… But why do we have to do all that with a big, dead animal in the middle of the table?! For me, that’s a total love-and-gratitude buzz kill.”
Not stopping there, Silverstone went on to slam the historical origins of Thanksgiving. She referenced the “pillaging of Native lands and the slaughter of Indigenous peoples.” She then highlighted the modern-scale slaughter of animals.
“Today, of course, we’re living in different times… we’re killing 660,000 animals an hour in this country alone, every single day,” Silverstone continued. “Let’s be honest, we’re not those starving pilgrims any more.”
Silverstone’s Alternative Thanksgiving Celebration
Instead of partaking in Thanksgiving, Silverstone hosts an alternative celebration centered on plant-based feasts.
“So what’s the solution? I say a big, true, compassionate, and beautiful Thanksgiving,” Silverstone concluded. “My goal is always to serve the most delicious, decadent dishes that have everyone — including meat-eaters — wondering why they even bother with the foods that don’t serve their bodies well.”
The liberal elites of Hollywood can bash Thanksgiving all that they want to, but it won’t stop the rest of us from enjoying our turkey. Sorry, Angelina and Alicia, but Thanksgiving is happening whether you like it or not. In the end, we only have two more words for you both: gobble gobble!
