It’s been one year since Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck finalized their divorce after just two years of marriage. Now, insiders are claiming that Affleck has been left “frustrated” by Lopez’s constant presence around the three children that he shares with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner in the wake of their split.
Affleck ‘Frustrated’ By Lopez
Affleck, 53, and Garner, 53, are parents to Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13. Sources are claiming that both Affleck and Garner have grown “frustrated” by Lopez, 56, continuing to play a constant role in the three children’s lives even after her divorce.
“The kids love their dad, but they’re just tired of having Jennifer Lopez around all the time,” an insider close to the family told Shuterscoop. “It’s not that they dislike her—they just want normalcy and some space.”
Another source chimed in to explain that, “their routines feel disrupted. Ben tries to balance it, but it’s clear they’re overwhelmed by the constant celebrity attention and Lopez being in the house so often.”
In the year since their divorce, Affleck and Lopez have remained close. Indeed, they have been spotted at red carpet events together. They were even seen Christmas shopping with one another last month.
“He’s trying to do right by everyone,” a close friend of Affleck’s alleged. “Ben wants the kids to feel comfortable and happy, but blending a family in the public eye is never simple.”
“Sometimes the kids just need a quiet night at home without cameras or constant attention,” yet another insider added. “They’re still learning how to navigate all of this.”
A final source said that Affleck “wants to make everyone happy, but it’s not easy.”
Lopez And Affleck’s History
Though they were only married for two years, Lopez and Affleck’s love story goes back decades.
Lopez and Affleck met in December of 2001 on the set of their infamous movie Gigli. They became engaged the next year, only to shock fans by calling off their planned wedding in 2003 just days before it was set to take place.
Lopez and Affleck each went on to marry and divorce different people. Indeed, she married the singer Marc Anthony while he married the former Alias star Garner.
Lopez and Anthony were married from 2004 until 2014. During their marriage, Lopez gave birth to twins who are now 17.
Meanwhile, Affleck was married to Garner from 2005 until 2018. During that time, they had three children.
Lopez and Affleck reunited and quickly rekindled their romance in April of 2021. They then married in July of 2022.
Sadly, it didn’t take long for their marriage to go off the rails. Lopez filed for divorce in August of 2024, citing their date of separation as April 26 of that year. Their divorce was finalized in January of 2025.
Lopez And Affleck Reunite
Last month, Affleck and Lopez were spotted Christmas shopping with his 13 year-old son Samuel at Brentwood Country Mart in Los Angeles. A source told People Magazine that the former couple “seemed fine.” The insider added that their main focus appeared to be on Samuel.
“They met up and went shopping together. Jen and Ben seemed fine,” the insider alleged. “The focus was mostly on Sam.”
“He was excited and chatty. They shopped for gifts in several high-end stores,” the source continued. “Jen asked a lot of questions and picked up gifts for Ben’s kids. They arrived and left separately.”
This has clearly been an extremely complicated situation for everyone involved. Only time will tell if Affleck decides to create some boundaries with Lopez as they begin their 2026!
