Hollywood has gone so woke these days that it’s rare to find a celebrity who is willing to defend American police officers.

That’s why it came as a welcome surprise when the A-list stars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon defied liberal Hollywood by taking a stand for the men and women in blue, who they believe are “underappreciated” and “underfunded.”

Affleck And Damon Defend Police

Affleck, 53, and Damon, 55, went on The Howard Stern Show on Tuesday to discuss their new movie The Rip. In the film, Affleck and Damon portray Miami police officers who seize millions while uncovering scandal in their own force.

During their interview, Affleck and Damon opened up about how they prepared for their respective roles. Indeed, they went above and beyond to transform into “honest cops.”

“These are hardcore guys,” host Howard Stern, 72, said of their characters. “I mean, you really captured that angst. Like, I’m an honest cop, but everyone’s looking at me like I’m dishonest.”

That’s when Affleck and Damon took a brave stand for American law enforcement.

“One of the things that I remember talking to Matt about with this was these people, who, as you say, don’t make a lot of money,” Affleck began. “It’s about going out and doing a honest day’s work and the integrity and the meaning of that… underappreciated, under suspicion often…”

“Underfunded,” Damon chimed in to add. Affleck was quick to agree, saying, “Underfunded. So to me, that was exactly what you described was at the heart of this thing.”

Affleck And Damon Double Down

Earlier that same day, Affleck and Damon promoted their movie on the Today show. There, they discussed spending time in Miami with police officers as they researched their profession.

“We went down and met the people who do this work and rode along with them and spent some time with them. That was great,” Damon recalled. “A lot of the language, the way the cops relate to each other, all of that was kind of already baked into the script. That research piece is always the fun stuff for us.”

“They were really gracious with their time and shared their stuff with us,” Affleck stated. “A lot of them are in the movie in the supporting parts, so it was cool.”

Affleck and Damon have been close friends ever since they grew up together in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They skyrocketed to fame when they co-wrote and co-starred in the 1997 hit movie Good Will Hunting. Affleck and Damon even took home Oscars for Best Original Screenplay for their work on this film.

Affleck and Damon joked about their friendship during their Today appearance. Indeed, Damon said that they’ve gotten sick of one another in “little ways” over the years, they’ve never tired of each other in “big ways.”

American police officers put their lives on the line for the rest of us every single day. That’s why it’s so disturbing that they don’t get enough respect from modern woke Hollywood.

We applaud Affleck and Damon for taking a stand for American police officers. God bless them both, and God bless all members of American law enforcement!
