‘Blue Bloods’ Star Tom Selleck Opens Up About His 37 Year Marriage – ‘I’ve Had A Very Lucky Life’

In the crazy world of Hollywood, it’s rare to find a marriage that is actually able to stand the test of time. That’s what makes the “Blue Bloods” star Tom Selleck’s 37 year marriage to his beloved wife Jillie Mack so special!

Selleck’s Loving Marriage

Daily Mail reported that Selleck, 79, and Mack, 66, met back in 1983, and they married four years later in 1987. They are parents to one daughter daughter Hannah, 35, and to Selleck’s 58 year-old son Kevin, who he shares with his ex-wife Jacqueline Ray.

Selleck told People Magazine that he loves “the friendship” that he has with his wife, going on to say that he also enjoys “Jillie’s sense of humor.”

Selleck also revealed that he and Mack are so close that she is always next to him when he goes over his scripts for “Blue Bloods,” which is set to end this year after fourteen seasons.

“I’m one of the last guys to see it, and I’m a good editor,” Selleck explained. “I’ve had a very good life, a very lucky life. I don’t know if it’s what I figured I’d be doing, but it’s with a lot of gratitude.”

Selleck Never Intended To Be An Actor

In this same interview, Selleck said that he never set out to be an actor, calling his Hollywood career “accidental.”

“I’d never taken an acting class. I had no training, no desire,” he said.

“People would say, ‘Oh, he was bitten by the acting bug’ or, ‘He wanted to be a star,’” Selleck added. “I’ve never talked that way in my life. I just wanted to get a job and work.”

With “Blue Bloods” coming to an end later this year, Selleck is reportedly looking forward to spending more time with his wife on their ranch in California.

“He wants to relax on his ranch, walk around his property, spend time with his wife and family, and travel a bit,” a source told Closer Magazine.

“Tom and Jillie can just sit at home, cook, go for a long walk and be very content. He adores Jillie and trusts her to schedule activities or travel plans,” the insider added. “He’s looking forward to having more free time to spend with her.”

Selleck’s Life On His Ranch

Selleck and Mack live on a 65-acre home near Ventura, where they enjoy growing avocados and wildflowers.

“I’ve planted them for years and they bloom in cycles,” he said of the latter. “When it’s coldest, one of them blooms and then another one comes in. I know it sounds stupid, but I just watch them grow.” 

“This ranch is a great counterpoint to the acting business, which is an abstraction — you do something, it’s up on a piece of film, and everybody argues whether it’s good or bad,” he previously shared. “You dig a hole and plant an oak tree — and I’ve probably planted a thousand of them — it’s real. It’s there, and you can watch it grow. It’s a lot different from being famous, and it keeps me sane.”

Selleck has said in the past that he’s happiest when he’s on his ranch with Mack.

“I get up before Jillie and put on the teakettle, so when she gets up, her tea water is hot,” he gushed to Closer in 2021. “I think I’m pretty romantic.”

Given how rare long-lasting marriages are in Hollywood, the love that Selleck and Mack share is truly beautiful to behold. If only there were more celebrities like Selleck out there!
