Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Rage Against the Machine have always had their ups and downs. They broke up in 2000 and then again in 2011.
Now their drummer says the music legends are down – for good this time – claiming they won’t be coming back.
Drummer Brad Wilk said in a post to fans that their “Public Service Announcement” reunion tour won’t resume.
And that the group will not continue in any form.
No More Rage?
“I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new dates for all the cancelled RATM shows,” Wilk wrote on Instagram.
“I don’t want to string people or myself along any further. So while there has been some communication that this may be happening in the future…I want to let you know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom and I) will not be touring or playing live again. I’m sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was…”

Rage’s most recent reunion was in 2022, following an 11-year hiatus. The tour was interrupted when frontman Zack de la Rocha ruptured his Achilles tendon during the second stop of the tour at Chicago’s United Center. He finished out the first leg of the tour sitting on a road case, and the rest of the dates were canceled.
de la Rocha skipped the band’s induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Morello was the only member of the group to show up.
Never Say Never
“Like most bands, we have differing perspectives on a lot of things, including being inducted into the Rock Hall,” de la Rocha said during his acceptance speech. “My perspective is that tonight is a great opportunity to celebrate the music and the mission of the band — to celebrate the fifth member of the band, which is Rage Against the Machine’s incredible fans.”
He added, “The only reason we are here and the best way to celebrate this music is for you to carry on that mission and that message.”
Is this really the end of the band? You can never say never with most things – and especially rock n’ roll.
