There were rumors recently that Britney Spears was planning on heading back to the recording studio.
But the pop star made it clear recently that she is done with music once and for all.
After some reports indicated that Spears was looking for songwriters for her tenth album, she wrote on Instagram, “Just so we’re clear most of the news is trash!!!”
Says She’s Through with Music
“They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album … I will never return to the music industry!!!” she added.

Some outlets had suggested that Julia Michaels and Charlie XCX had been tapped up as collaborators.
But Spears added that she only wrote music for fun and also revealed that she had written more than 20 songs for other people over the past two years.
“I’m a ghostwriter and I honestly enjoy it that way!!!” wrote the singer, known for hits including Baby One More Time, Oops!… I Did It Again and Toxic.
The post was accompanied by Guido Reni’s Renaissance painting titled Salome Bearing the Head of St John the Baptist.
The last time Spears released new music was in August 2022, after a judge decided she should be released from a conservatorship that had a deep control on everything she did.
That music was a song with Sir Elton John, a duet called “Hold Me Closer.” It was her return to music after being away from the industry for six years.
Is Britney Really DONE, Done?
Fans have been eager for new Spears music forever, but according to her that’s not only going to be a long time – but perhaps forever.
Of course artists, musical or otherwise, have changed their minds in the past about whether they really were retired or not.
At 42, hopefully Britney Spears still has a very long time to think about what she wants in the future.
