‘Better Call Saul’ Sets Emmys Record, But Still Doesn’t Win

The prequel to the monster hit series Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, won a total of 53 Emmy nominations for its six seasons on the air.

But it failed to take home a single win.

This makes it the show with the most losses or snubs in the history of the Emmys.

From Entertainment Tonight, “Created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, Better Call Saul, which stars Bob Odenkirk as criminal lawyer Jimmy McGill in the years leading up to his time working with Walter White (Bryan Cranston), ran from 2015 to 2022. Conversely, Breaking Bad won 16 Emmys during its five-season run. ” 

“At the 2023 Emmys, the AMC series had seven nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, but came home empty-handed, losing the main award to Succession,” ET noted.

Still, nothing for the show and Odenkirk.

Odenkirk told ET in 2023, “Oh my God, listen, a nomination would be everything. We were so well received by critics and the audience. We were so thankful after Breaking Bad to get the good vibes from everyone and to follow through to the end.”

“I mean, I’m so proud of that show. I always will be,” he added. “It would mean so much. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping.”

Criminal

Breaking Bad and its follow up/prequel Better Call Saul are two of the best television shows in the history of the medium.

That Saul didn’t get the proper love from the Emmys has never felt right and still doesn’t.
