Robert De Niro Reveals He’s Become Father To Seventh Baby At 79

The legendary Hollywood star Robert De Niro has shocked everyone in a new interview by revealing that he’s just welcomed his seventh child at the age of 79.

De Niro Drops Baby Bomb

De Niro dropped this bombshell while opening up about fatherhood as he promoted his new movie About My Father.

“I mean, there’s no way around it with kids. I don’t like to have to lay down the law and stuff like that. But, [sometimes] you just have no choice,” he told ET Canada. “And any parent, I think, would say the same thing. You always want to do the right thing by the children and give them the benefit of the doubt but sometimes you can’t.”

The interviewer then asked about De Niro’s six children, with the Oscar-winning star quickly jumping in to correct by saying, “Seven, actually.”

“I just had a baby,” De Niro continued.

De Niro offered no further details about this seventh baby, but his reps have since confirmed the recent birth. While it is not been specifically revealed who the mother is, Page Six reported that De Niro’s girlfriend Tiffany Chen was photographed last month showing off what appeared to be a baby bump.

Chen is a martial arts instructor from New York City who worked with De Niro on the 2015 film The Intern. It was first indicated that they were a couple in 2021, when she celebrated his birthday with him in France.

De Niro’s Fatherhood Journey

De Niro, who has been married twice, shares two children with his first wife Diahnne Abbott: Drena, 51, and Raphael, 46. He also has two children with his second wife Grace Hightower, who divorced five years ago: Elliot, 25, and Helen, 11.

Between his marriages, De Niro welcomed twin sons Julian and Aaron, 27, with his ex-girlfriend Toukie Smith, who is a model and actress.

In this same interview, De Niro said that he does not see himself as a “cool dad.”

“You know, my kids disagree with me at times, and they’re respectful,” he explained. “My daughter, she’s 11, she gives me grief sometimes and I argue with her. I adore her, but, you know. And my youngest now, that’ll be more to come. But, that’s what it is.”

De Niro Also A Grandfather

De Niro, who is set to turn 80 in August, is also a grandfather of four, and he’s previously said that the best thing a parent or grandparent can do is tell their children to go for their dreams.

“For my kids, I tell them, ‘If you want to be an actor or you want to do this or that, that’s fine as long as you’re happy. Just don’t sell yourself short,'” De Niro told People Magazine in 2020.

“That’s the most I would say — push yourself a little more and reach for what you really think it is you want to do. Don’t be afraid,” he added. “It’s important for them to find their own lane.”

While having a child at nearly 80 is certainly an unusual decision, fatherhood clearly agrees with De Niro. We wish him the best of luck with his seventh baby, and we hope he continues to enjoy being a dad in his elder years!
