Jerry Springer Reveals What He’d Tell God On ‘Judgement Day’ In Chilling Final Interview Before His Death

Last week, we reported that the legendary talk show host Jerry Springer had passed away at the age of 79 after a private battle with pancreatic cancer. Now, Springer’s final interview has resurfaced, and what he had to say about God and “judgement day” is nothing short of chilling.

Springer’s Final Interview

Daily Mail reported that Springer’s final interview took place in February, when he appeared on an Australian talk show. He had already been diagnosed with cancer at this point, but he hadn’t revealed his diagnosis to the public. When asked about his retirement plans, Springer hinted that his life would end before he had the chance to retire.

“I think God may [have plans for when I retire], and so I hope he’s okay with me,” Springer said.

“I figured when my judgment day comes, my closing argument [to God] when he’s ready to decide where to send me [is]… ‘Oh, remember my final thought?'” he continued. “I hope that my final thought is the one that can speak to [my] character.”

Springer was referring to how he would always close out episodes of “The Jerry Springer Show” with the final thought, “Take care of yourself, and each other.”

Co-host Larry Emdur tried to lighten the mood by saying that this “wasn’t enough” to get Springer into Heaven, prompting the seasoned talk show host to burst out laughing.

“No, that doesn’t even open the door!” Springer exclaimed.

Springer Discusses ‘The Jerry Springer Show’

In this same interview, Springer opened up about “The Jerry Springer Show.”

“I’d say it was 98 per cent real. In fact, the lawyers were involved, [so] you’d get sued if you made it up,” he said. “The situations were truthful. What was embellished… was the reactions. Because you had the audience screaming, ‘Jerry! Jerry!'”

“They’d seen the show 100 times before. And so you could have the same people on Oprah and they would have behaved perfectly,” he added. “It’s just that when they came to our show, they kind of knew the drill and they just behaved like that.”

“The Jerry Springer Show” was an enormous success, running from 1991 until 2018.

“It was a crazy show. For 30 years and… it was enjoyable. Obviously there was an audience that enjoyed it,” Springer admitted. “[But] I never thought it had any redeeming social value. I mean, it wouldn’t it wouldn’t hurt you, but it wouldn’t, you know, make you a better person either.”

Springer’s Death

The world was shocked last week when it was announced that Springer had died.

“Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word,” Springer’s representative said in a statement. “He’s irreplaceable and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart and humor will live on.”

“Funeral services and a memorial gathering are currently being developed,” she continued, according to People Magazine. “To remember Jerry, the family asks that in lieu of flowers you consider following his spirit and make a donation or commit to an act of kindness to someone in need or a worthy advocacy organization. As he always said, ‘Take care of yourself, and each other.'”
