Kelly Clarkson is preparing to release a new song that she uses to bash her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock one year after they finalized their bitter divorce. This comes as she continues to be embroiled in a legal battle over business with her former father-in-law Narvel Blackstock, who happens to be the ex-husband of Reba McEntire.

Kelly Shades Ex With New Song

Kelly took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to share a clip of her new song “Mine,” and it appears clear that the lyrics refer to Brandon.

“Someone’s gonna show you how a heart can be used, like you did mine,” Kelly can be seen singing in a recording studio in the clip that she shared.

Kelly wrote in the caption that the song will be released on April 14, adding the emojis of a wine glass, a broken heart and a sun.

Fox News reported that “Mine” is just one of the songs from Kelly’s upcoming album “Chemistry,” which she has said is about “the arc of an entire relationship.” Kelly has been working on the songs for this album for the past three years, and she’s previously said that they are so personal that she initially was not sure if she would ever release them.

No release date for the album has been revealed yet, but Kelly has said that it is “coming soon.”

Kelly’s Divorce And Legal Battle

Kelly and Brandon married in 2013, and they went on to have two children together before they split seven years later. They had likely known each other since at least 2007, when Kelly signed on to be represented by the music management company that is owned by Brandon’s father Narvel.

Months after Kelly filed for divorce from Brandon back in 2020, Narvel hit her with a lawsuit for allegedly failing to pay his management company the rightful commission he claimed that she owed them. In the suit, Narvel alleged that Kelly owed $1.4 million as well as $5.4 million for future commission as part of their original agreement that she would pay 15% of her earnings to his company.

Kelly fired back with a countersuit on the grounds that both Brandon and Narvel had violated the California Labor Code because they were never actually licensed to do their jobs.

Narvel Responds

US Magazine reported that Narvel responded to this countersuit by saying that “[Kelly’s petition] conveniently ignores the fact that Kelly had her own licensed talent agency [Creative Artists Agency] at all times. While Starstruck Management Group provided talent management services on her behalf, it did so at all times that CAA was her agency of record.”

“It is unfortunate that Kelly is again attempting to avoid paying commissions that are due and owing to Starstruck to try and achieve some perceived advantage in her ongoing custody and divorce proceedings,” he continued.

This legal battle remains ongoing at this time three years later.

Kelly Admits Divorce Was ‘Horrible’

Kelly has been open about how difficult the divorce battle was for her.

“It’s horrible. There are so many hard parts. The hardest for me is the kids. That’s the hardest for me,” she previously said. “I think as women we are trained … to take it all on and you can deal with it and you’re fine, but it’s your babies that you worry about.”

Kelly appears to have dealt with her bitter divorce battle by pouring herself into her music, which is why her next album will likely be her most personal one ever. We can’t wait to hear Kelly’s new song “Mine” when it drops next week, and we hope her album is released very soon!
