Kirk Cameron Gets Defended By ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Missy Robertson After Library Staffers Disrespect Him At Event

Missy Robertson of “Duck Dynasty” fame is speaking out to slam the behavior of staffers at a library in Tennessee after they were disrespectful towards her, the Christian actor Kirk Cameron, and the women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines during a recent event. 

Missy Calls Out Library Officials

While appearing on Phil and Jase Robertson’s “Unashamed” podcast, Missy explained that she and Cameron were at a public library in Hendersonville on February 25 filming marketing videos for their books before a planned story hour for children at the venue. When they asked for a minute of silence so they could record, staffers allegedly made loud noises and played music from behind their desks, according to Missy. 

“[The lady at the front desk of the library] said, ‘We’re just trying to look for things to deal with our stress.’ Stre— … what stress? … We’re just standing there with a camera doing a marketing video,” she recounted. “That’s when I turned my phone on. I started recording. I was like, ‘This is blatant and ridiculous.'” 

Fox News reported that Cameron is currently traveling the country promoting his biblical children’s book “As You Grow” at public libraries. He launched this tour in response to “drag queen story hour” events, which have soared in popularity at public libraries all over America.

Library Staffers Were ‘Super Rude’

Missy and Gaines, who lives in the Hendersonville area, were invited to the event in February as Cameron’s special guests, and the former “Duck Dynasty” star alleged that “hundreds” of people with children were lined up outside in the rain to attend this event.

Texas-based Brave Books, which published Cameron’s book, previously claimed that the head official at the Hendersonville Public Library  had tried to cancel the event after learning how many families were slated to attend. The publisher also said that during the event, library staffers “treated us terribly, unfortunately.” 

Missy was livid that families were forced to wait outside in the rain, rather than inside where they could be dry. 

“Not only were they rude to us … they were super rude to their entire community that lived there in Hendersonville, Tennessee, because that is a public library and they could have invited all those people who were standing in the rain to come and form lines inside the library, down the aisles, sit on the ground,” Missy said.

“We weren’t even reading in the library part, we were down the hall in a conference room,” she added. “They wouldn’t let them in. They made them stand outside in the freezing cold with their children in the rain. Total rudeness to me.”

‘They’re Coming For Your Kids!’

Missy walked away saddened that a Christian event was met with this kind of negative reception. 

“This is not in California or New York City. This is in Nashville. People are moving to Nashville and the surrounding areas to get away from this stuff,” she said. “It’s not just happening in, quote, ‘liberal’ areas. They’re coming for your kids!” 

As for Cameron, he acknowledged that there was “negative pushback,” but said he was still grateful that the community was able to attend this event, adding that this is all part of his movement to “take back the hearts and minds of America’s children.”

“Many public institutions have been infiltrated with individuals who intentionally silence wholesome movements like ours — while families are crying out for a return to the faith-based virtue and American values that lead to our blessing and protection,” Cameron said. 

Sadly, Cameron has become used to the kind of reception that he received at the Hendersonville Public Library. We applaud Missy for defending him, and we applaud Cameron for not letting the backlash stop him from continuing with these events!
