Pamela Anderson Defies Hollywood By Doubling Down On Anti-#MeToo Comments

Pamela Anderson found herself in hot water five years ago when she spoke out against the #MeToo movement right when it was at its height.

When asked about her past comments on the #MeToo movement in a new interview, Anderson refused to back down and instead defied Hollywood once again by saying that she could take her remarks “a step further.”

Anderson Doubles Down On Past #MeToo Comments

In a November of 2017 interview, Megyn Kelly asked Anderson about the #MeToo movement that was turning Hollywood upside down at the time, but the former “Baywatch” star wasn’t having any of it.

“You know what you’re getting into if you go to a hotel room alone,” she said.

Ronan Farrow, the journalist who started the #MeToo movement with his takedown of the Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, asked Anderson about her past comments on Wednesday, wanting to know if she feels that this was “a healthy thought to introduce into the dialogue at that point.”

“I could even take it a step further,” Anderson, 55, fired back as Farrow interviewed her for an Interview Magazine profile.

“My mother would tell me — and I think this is the kind of feminism I grew up with — it takes two to tango,” Anderson explained, going on to say that her mother taught her that, “‘If someone answers the door in a hotel robe and you’re going for an interview, don’t go in. But if you do go in, get the job.’”

Though Anderson then said that this was “a horrible thing to say,” she also added that she “just had this sense of value and self-worth.”

“But I think a lot of people don’t have that or they weren’t taught that,” she continued. “Thank God for the #MeToo movement because things have changed and people are much more careful and respectful.”

Anderson’s Past Comments

In her 2017 interview with Kelly that landed her in trouble, Anderson stressed the importance of women taking responsibility for their own actions. Though she didn’t defend Hollywood predators like Weinstein, Anderson also said that she “learned to never put myself in those situations again.”

“When I came to Hollywood, of course I had a lot of offers to do private auditions and things that made absolutely no sense,” she explained. “[It’s] just common sense: Don’t go into a hotel room alone. If someone answers the door in a bathrobe, you know, leave.”

Anderson then revealed that it was “common knowledge” to avoid “certain people” in Hollywood.

“You know what you’re getting into if you go to a hotel room alone,” she said, with Kelly warning that on many occasions, it was the actresses’ agents who were setting up their meetings.

“I’d go with them! Send somebody with them. That’s what they should’ve done,” Anderson responded. “I just think there’s easy ways to remedy that. That’s not a good excuse.”

Anderson Stood Her Ground

There ended up being plenty of good things that came out of the #MeToo movement, as there were many male Hollywood predators that needed to be exposed. However, we applaud Anderson for pointing out the importance of women not putting themselves in dangerous situations.

It would have been easy for Anderson to completely disavow her past comments in her latest interview just to appease “woke” Hollywood, but she had the guts to stick to her guns.

We may not agree with everything Anderson has done lately, but good for her for standing her ground on this one.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
