Frank Sinatra’s Daughter Defends Dean Martin From Alcoholism Accusations

Nancy Sinatra, the daughter of the late great Frank Sinatra, is speaking out to defend her father’s friend Dean Martin from accusations that he was an alcoholic.

Nancy Defends Dean

Nancy, 82, took to Twitter to fire back at a user who claimed that Dean didn’t have “to act . . . he was drunk.”

“That is a lie. Dean was very disciplined, golfed every morning,” she said. “The drinking was part of the professional persona, an act.”

Another user responded to this by saying, “Nancy! You only had to look at Deans last photos to see he had lived the life of an alcoholic!”

Nancy, however, was not having any of it.

“No. His face reflected his pain and sadness about the loss of his son,” she said. “He was never the same after Dean Jr. died. He was just a shell.”

Fox News reported that Dean Jr., who once dated Nancy, was a pilot who was sadly killed in a plane crash during a military training flight back in 1987. He was 35 years-old.

Nancy later took to Twitter once again to talk about how much she loved Dean, who was famously in the Rat Pack with her father.

“I knew him well for practically my whole life and I loved him dearly,” she said. “His birthday was the day before mine so we often celebrated together. He was family and I miss him more than I can say. He was – Uncle Dean.”

Dean died in 1995 at the age of 78, and Frank followed him three years later at the age of 82.

Social Media Users Agree With Nancy

Daily Mail reported that Nancy got lots of support for her defense of Dean.

“I always thought Dean Martin was a boozer, too,” one social media user commented. “It was then that I realized that it was all an act. He was really a quiet, sober, intensely private person.”

“Dean and the Rat Pack were Pro’s. They couldn’t perform if truly drunk,” another user added. “There’s no way [Martin] could have done everything he did, as well as he did, if he was drunk all the time.”

“I agree with her, sure he liked a drink but you could tell he hammed-up the ‘drunk’ character as much as he could and in some shows seemed to ‘sober-up’ in a second or two, especially when singing,” someone else commented, with a fourth writing, “They don’t make them like that anymore. Miss the rat pack.”

Nancy has had a successful decades-long singing career in her own right, with her most memorable hit arguably being “These Boots Are Made For Walkin.'” Check out her performing that song for yourself in the video below.

Nancy Honors ‘Dear Friend’ Elvis

Earlier this month, Nancy took to social media to pay tribute to her “dear friend” Elvis Presley, who died in 1977 at the age of 42, on what would have been his 88th birthday.

“I’m thinking of my dear friend on his birthday and wishing he were still here to celebrate with us,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself with Elvis. “This is my favorite picture of Elvis and me. It shows the fun and affection we shared. Oh, God, how I miss him.”

We applaud Nancy for speaking out to defend Dean’s good name. Dean was a true legend, and he deserves better than to be attacked by internet trolls decades after his death!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
