Jared Cannonier and Sean Strickland have been trying for one another for several weeks now.

THe middleweight contenders will square off in the headline bout this Saturday night as the UFC puts a cap on 2022 at UFC Vegas 66. The event takes place from Las Vegas and the UFC Apex, airing live on ESPN+.

An injury to Strickland forced the bout to be delayed earlier this year. Now, though, they are both primed and ready to go.

The 38-year-old Cannonier will be looking to bounce back from a decision loss to then-UFC champion Israel Adesanya back in July. Prior to that, he knocked out Derek Brunson and downed Kelvin Gastelum via decision.

Cannonier is 15-6 overall, but sports a solid 5-2 mark in his last seven. That run also includes a win over former UFC champion Anderson Silva.

Strickland, meanwhile, had his six-fight win streak snapped by current UFC champion Alex Pereira in July. He had scored consecutive wins over Jack Hermansson, Uriah Hall, Krzysztof Jotko, Brendan Allen, Jack Marshman and Nordine Taleb.

With a record of 25-4 that includes 14 finishes, Strickland is a very dangerous fighter.

The card also features Arman Tsarukyan vs. Damir Ismagulov in a lightweight contest, while Alex Caceres faces Julian Erosa. Drew Dober and Bobby Green meet in another lightweight affair.
