George Takei Says He’ll Never Talk About ‘Star Trek’ Co-Star William Shatner Again

George Takei has pledged to never talk about his former “Star Trek” co-star William Shatner again after the two of them engaged in a feud for fifty years.

Takei Won’t Talk About Shatner Again

Daily Mail reported that during an appearance on “The Graham Norton Show,” Takei said that “this is the very last time I talk about him,” referring to Shatner. Takei, 85, also slammed Shatner, 91, as a ‘cantankerous old man.”

When asked about Shatner by Norton, Takei replied, “You are the last chat show host to be allowed to ask that question as it has become so tiresome to talk about.”

“When Bill has a book to sell he needs publicity and accuses us of using him,” he continued. “My subject is more substantial and important.”

Takei is currently promoting his musical “Allegiance” which is based on his childhood and family history.

“He is a cantankerous old man and I will not talk about him anymore,” Takei said of Shatner. “I vow that this is the very last time I talk about him.”

‘He’s Just A Cantankerous Old Man’

This came days after Takei bashed Shatner in another interview with The Guardian.

“I know he came to London to promote his book and talked about me wanting publicity by using his name,” Takei said of Shatner. “‘So I decided I don’t need his name to get publicity.”

Takei went on to say that he has “much more substantial subject matter” that he tries to get publicity for.

“I’m not going to refer to Bill in this interview at all … although I just did,” he added. “He’s just a cantankerous old man and I’m going to leave him to his devices. I’m not going to play his game.”

Takei then said that during their time starring on “Star Trek” in the 1960s, Shatner “was self-involved,” “enjoyed being the center of attention” and “wanted everyone to kowtow to him.”

Shatner told The Times last month that he believes his co-stars attack him publicly just to get their names in headlines.

“Sixty years after some incident they are still on that track. Don’t you think that’s a little weird? It’s like a sickness,” Shatner said. “I began to understand that they were doing it for publicity.”

Takei Attacks Shatner For Going Into Space

When Shatner went into space a year ago, Takei slammed him as a “guinea pig” who was being used to see what the impact of space on an “unfit” specimen would be.

“George [Takei] has never stopped blackening my name,” Shatner said in response. “These people are bitter and embittered. I have run out of patience with them. Why give credence to people consumed by envy and hate?”

Shatner also said that going to space was a powerful experience for him.

“I discovered that the beauty isn’t out there, it’s down here, with all of us,” he said afterwards. “Leaving that behind made my connection to our tiny planet even more profound.”

It’s sad to see that two people who starred together in one of the most iconic television shows of all time despise one another so vehemently. Hopefully Takei puts his money where his mouth is and finally stops talking about Shatner, because this feud has gone on long enough!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
