ESPN Once Again Raising Price For UFC PPV Events

The cost of following the UFC closely continues to climb.

The promotion announced recently that the price for individual pay-per-view events will be $79.99 beginning with UFC 283 in 2023. That is a jump from the $74.99 of the past year.

To purchase these featured attractions, an ESPN+ subscription is also needed. That monthly price went up from $6.99 to $9.99 earlier this year.

According to MMA Fighting this marks the fourth price increase since the deal between UFC and ESPN in 2019.

Pay-per-view events were once $59.99 before becoming $64.99. They moved to $69.99 in 2021.

UFC 283 is set to feature two title fights, as Glover Teixeira and Jamahal Hill battle for the vacant light heavyweight title. Also, Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno meet for flyweight gold.

UFC president Dana White is quoted as saying the promotion doesn’t “have any say” in the price of PPVs under the ESPN+ banner.

“We gave the pay-per-views to ESPN, so yeah, that’s their decision,” he said. “You know how I feel about that stuff. I don’t love when prices get raised, but it’s not my decision. It’s theirs.”

The UFC has continued to produce quality events on non-PPV weekends, but to charge this much for the speciality cards, they are really going to need to stack the lineup with big-name fights and title matches.
