Duane “Dog The Bounty Hunter” Chapman has broken his silence after he was hit with a $1.6 million tax lien for allegedly not paying taxes in Colorado and Hawaii.

Dog’s Tax Lien

“I’ve been working diligently to satisfy these outstanding debts and look forward to putting this behind us,” Dog, 69, told The Sun

Official tax documents show that Dog has liens in the amount of $72,229 in Hawaii relating to his “individual income” for the years of 2014 and 2019. Meanwhile, from 2014-2020, Dog has federal liens in both Douglas and Jefferson counties in Colorado, according to Daily Mail

In Douglas County, Dog’s liens amount to $799,975 (for 2014-2019) and $20,147 (for 2020), while in Jefferson County, he has liens for $800,087 for 2014-2019.

Dog Moves To Florida

This comes days after it was reported that Dog had sold his Colorado mansion and moved to Florida with his wife Francie Frane, who he met six months after the 2019 death of his first wife Beth. Dog had bought the Colorado mansion with Beth back in 2009 for $750,000, and it sold this week at the asking price of $1.59 million.

“I love Colorado — it will always be special to me and Francie,” Dog told The New York Post. “We have moved to the sunny state of Florida and are enjoying the warmer weather. Aloha.”

Dog went on to say that his main focus is currently on the The D.O.G. Foundation, which aims to fight sex trafficking and to help survivors of abuse.

Dog told Coastal Breeze News earlier this year that he was planning a move from Colorado to Naples, Florida.

“We’re moving here because of my belief and my faith,” Dog said. “And it’s warm here all the time. We won’t go into politics, but that’s a good one, too.”

“A lot of people are coming to Florida,” he continued. “A lot of people are going to a lot of different cities where crime is not running rampant. And Florida is one of those places. I feel safe to bring my family here. We’ve already started. I don’t like to say, ‘Things to come,’ but we already started our move.”

Dog Lost Beth

It’s been a difficult few years for Dog in the wake of the death of his wife Beth, who was initially diagnosed with a stage two cancerous tumor growth on her throat in 2017, according to Daily Mail. She was declared cancer-free after she underwent a 12-hour surgery to remove the plum-sized tumor, but the cancer sadly came back in November of 2018.

Beth died eight months later in Hawaii at the age of 51, and it was Dog who announced her death.

“It’s 5.32 in Hawaii, this is the time she (Beth) would wake up to go hike Koko Head mountain,” he wrote on social media at the time. “Only today, she hiked the stairway to heaven. We all love you, Beth. See you on the other side.”

Just when things were starting to look up for Dog with his move to Florida for a fresh start, he gets hit with a huge tax lien. We can only hope that he is able to get his tax situation figured out so that he can finally start his new life in the sunshine state in peace.
