Candace Cameron Bure of “Full House” and “Fuller House” fame has found herself in hot water in recent weeks for saying that her new network Great American Family will be focusing on content that showcases “traditional marriage.”

While most of the people in Hollywood have since turned their back on Cameron Bure, she’s now being defended by the former “Wonder Years” star Danica McKellar.

McKellar Defends Cameron Bure

McKellar was quick to defend Cameron Bure when she was asked about her co-star Neal Bledsoe announcing that he was leaving the network over the traditional marriage comments. Despite supporting Bledsoe, McKellar said she would not be abandoning the network as he did, according to Daily Mail

“Neal is a wonderful person. He’s such a great actor, and I have enjoyed working with him so much,” McKellar told Fox News. “He and I both share our love and support of [the] LGBT community, for sure. You know, I don’t agree with his interpretation of her comments. I just didn’t see them the same way”

“When she was talking about the portrayal of heterosexual couples in the movies, she started the sentence with ‘I think,’ which is not definitive, and she ended it with ‘at its core,’ which doesn’t mean exclusively,” she continued.

Cameron Bure’s Comments

This came one month after Cameron Bure said that “Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core.”

“My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them,” she explained. “I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.”

Bledsoe responded by saying that he would no longer be working with Great American Family in protest.

“My life wouldn’t be where it is today without the love, support, and guidance of the LGBTQIA+ community,” he told Variety. “From my mentors in college, to the myriad of agents and managers, writers and directors, teachers and colleagues, and, of course, my dear friends and family, who have all touched my life, I owe them a great debt.”

McKellar Promotes New Christmas Movie

McKellar is currently promoting her new Great American Family movie “Christmas at the Drive-In,” which she starred in with Bledsoe. Her character in the film is fighting to save her town’s drive-in after it is scheduled to be torn down and turned into a distribution center.

“My character is very passionate about keeping it alive, and then the developer is played by my co-star. … Of course, there’s friction, but then we get along and fall in love because that’s what happens in these movies,” said McKellar, who has starred in many Christmas movies throughout her career. She was also recently a celebrity guest at ChristmasCon, an experience that she really enjoyed.

“ChristmasCon is such a gift,” she said. “I just absolutely love interacting with fans and meeting them. … Just seeing all their joy. All that Christmas joy is incredible.”

Despite receiving tons of backlash for her “traditional marriage” comments, Cameron Bure has refused to back down. As one of the few openly conservative Christian actresses in Hollywood, Cameron Bure is used to taking heat for things from the left. We applaud McKellar for standing by her, and we wish more celebrities would do the same!
