The Hollywood star Chris Pratt took to social media over the weekend to pay tribute to a crew member on his latest movie after the unnamed person was killed in a car crash off-set.
Daily Mail reported that the crew member who had worked on the set of the upcoming Netflix movie The Electric State was killed in a car accident on Friday. Pratt shared a statement by the film’s directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who said, “The Electric State production family lost a valued production crew member yesterday.”
“We express our deepest condolences to his family and friends,” they continued. “We love our crew like family. And this is devastating news to all of us.”
Pratt added a message of his own, writing, “Our prayers go out to the family and friends of our beloved teamster who passed away Friday morning.”
“Reminder to hold your loved ones close,” he concluded alongside a heart emoji.
This comes after a source told Deadline hours following the car accident, “Production was paused today, and cast and crew were offered counseling resources.”
The accident occurred “after working hours” in Georgia, where Pratt’s movie is currently being filmed. Based on the graphic novel by Simon Stålenhag, The Electric State also stars Millie Bobby Brown, Billy Bob Thornton, Ke Huy Quan, and Jason Alexander.
“‘An orphaned teenager traverses the American West with a sweet but mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter in search of her younger brother,” reads the description of the film, according IMDB. The movie is science fiction and takes place in the 1990s, and it is scheduled to start streaming sometime in 2024.
This comes after Pratt officially endorsed Rick Caruso, a former Republican who is now a moderate Democrat, in the race to be mayor of Los Angeles.
“I’ve lived in LA for over 20 years. It’s been great to me. In that time I’ve seen what many residents here have seen, the city’s gradual decline into pain and utter disarray,” Pratt wrote on Instagram yesterday, according to The New York Post. “If you live here, you know exactly what I’m talking about.”
“I don’t normally support political candidates. But in this election, there’s too much to lose,” he continued. “If you’re an LA voter, I urge you to vote for @rickcarusola. He’s a builder. He knows how to get s*** done. He’s the guy for our city. Rick Caruso for LA Mayor.”

Caruso is running against the radically liberal congresswoman Karen Bass, who is currently in her sixth term representing the 37th Congressional District. Caruso was also endorsed by Pratt’s mother-in-law Maria Shriver, who tweeted, “This race is super tight and every vote matters. If you want Los Angeles to be different than it is today, the choice is clear with @RickCarusoLA.”
The identity of The Electric State crew member who was killed on Friday has yet to be revealed to the public at the time of this writing. We ask that you join us in saying a prayer for the family and friends of this person at this very difficult time.
