Flashback: Kid Rock Pays Touching Tribute To Close Friend Loretta Lynn In The Wake Of The Country Legend’s Passing

The world is in mourning over the death of the country music legend Loretta Lynn, who died in her sleep on Tuesday at the age of 90. Now, the iconic singer Kid Rock is speaking out to pay tribute to Lynn, who happened to be a close friend of his.

‘RIP Miss Loretta’

“RIP Miss Loretta,” Kid Rock wrote on social media alongside a photo of him and Lynn together. “I find it very difficult to put your beautiful soul, talent and friendship into words right now… so I will use the ones you said to me and so many others, so many times…’I love you honey.'”

Some fans may be surprised to learn that Kid Rock and Lynn had been friends for many years. Taste Of Country reported that Kid Rock is close to Lynn’s son Ernest Lynn and his wife Crystal, but he and the legendary “Coal Miner’s Daughter” singer developed a close bond of their own.

Kid Rock And Lynn Get ‘Married’

Kid Rock and Lynn even jokingly got married back in 2020, when Ernest and Crystal were renewing their vows.

“What a weekend! My Ernie & Crystal renewed their vows this weekend. It was beautiful and everything it should be,” Lynn wrote on social media at the time. “Marriage isn’t always easy–heck it’s not even always pretty, but love holds you together and you push through the bad days to enjoy the good ones. I’m so proud of them and wish them years of happiness.”

“Things got crazy then–my boy @kidrock was there and we’ve always teased about getting ourselves married,” she added. “Well, the preacher was already there so we had some fun with it. Sorry girls, he’s taken now!”

Lynn closed out her post with the hashtags “#gottahavesomefun #88andfeelinggreat #laugh #tabloidfodder #cougar.”

Fans initially freaked out upon seeing this post, as they thought that Lynn really had married Kid Rock! She later returned to social media to clarify that it was all a joke, however.

“Well, it didn’t last long, y’all but it sure was fun!” she said. “I guess I better get on here and let y’all know that it was just a joke— @kidrock and I didn’t get married over the weekend, but we had a blast.”

“Our precious mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning, October 4th, in her sleep at home at her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills,” they said in a brief statement.

Lynn was a true legend in the country music world, and there will never be another one like her. Lynn’s playful friendship with Kid Rock shows that despite her success, she remained down-to-earth right up until the very end.

Rest in peace, Loretta Lynn.

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
