Whoopi Goldberg is being slammed for being “out of touch” after whining that she “needed a break” from her “$8 million a year” gig as a co-host in the ABC talk show “The View.”
It all started when Goldberg kicked off the new season of “The View” on Monday by doing what she does best: complaining!
“… Look, we needed the break. Sometimes people don’t realize on a daily basis, because we’re live, we are not scripted – this is coming out of us,” Goldberg said at the start of the show, according to The Sun. “… As we always say on any given day, half the country is angry at us… so we try to keep as much energy going as we can with the things we talk about…”
She added, “… So it can get tiring sometimes. It’s a lot! And we got a break that we needed! We needed that break!” While motioning to the live audience, Goldberg went on, “We’re glad to see all of you cause I’m sure you all needed a break as well. Unfortunately that break is over!”

Unfortunately for Goldberg, however, viewers did not take kindly to her entitled comments.
“Whoopi is so out of touch,” tweeted one social media user, with another adding, “She says it’s rough talking s—t all day. Hate to see her working my day.”
“They’re given a break every August anyway,” another disgruntled twitter user asserted. “It’s not like they all abruptly decided to take a break mid-season!”
Goldberg earns an estimated salary of $8 million per year working on the ABC talk show, and she’s worth an estimated $60 million. She signed a multi-year contract extension with “The View” in September of last year that states that she’ll stay on as a co-host for at least another four years.
This comes months after Goldberg and her co-hosts Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Sara Haines, were accused of flaunting their wealth when “The View” filmed them on a luxury vacation in the Bahamas for one week. The trip was meant to celebrate the 25th anniversary of “The View” premiering back in 1997, but fans were not having any of it.
“Those who are struggling to put food on their tables and gas in their cars can see a vacation spot first hand on TV,” tweeted one livid viewer, with another adding, “… Meanwhile I’ll be here, working from home while they enjoy their paid vacation.”

Goldberg’s granddaughter Amara Skye recently appeared on the reality television show “Claim To Fame,” and she opened up about her relationship with her grandmother.
“Me and my grandma are super close. She’s everything,” Skye told Essence. “It gets frustrating because it’s like, how am I going to compete with that? But I’m lucky enough to have that.”
“I just feel like people know my grandmother for being Whoopi. She’s iconic, she’s political, everything she says holds water, but that’s the viewer’s eyes,” she added. “She’s my grandmother and she’s also really a grandmother.”
Even so, Skye could not deny that Goldberg can be “annoying.”
“People who are lucky enough to have them know, grandmothers are annoying and it’s another parent,” Skye said. “You love her, but she’s annoying, and you know, it’s family.”
Perhaps Goldberg should focus a little less on “being Whoopi,” and a little more on not offending her viewers, because it seems like she’s been doing that quite a lot lately!
