Its Patsy Cline’s Birthday – Here Are Her Best Songs & Moments

Patsy Cline left us at the tragically young age of 30 nearly sixty years ago, but her legacy lives on.

Considered the first prominent female country music star, Cline’s bold alto voice paved the way for every female country star for the next six decades. In honor of what would be her 90th Birthday, let’s take some time to remember Cline and some of her best songs and moments.

‘Walkin’ After Midnight’

Patsy Cline’s star-making hit was “Walkin’ After Midnight,” which she performed for the first time on the CBS variety show “Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts.”

The song was an instant hit after the televised performance, reaching number 1 on the country charts and number 12 on the pop charts.

‘I Fall To Pieces’

“I Fall To Pieces” was the song that made Cline a big star. Like several of her other hits, Cline was hesitant to record it, as she felt it lacked some of the country sound that she was familiar with. Her willingness to record music with less “country” sounds contributed to her crossover appeal, making her one of the first significant female stars to have hits in multiple genres.

‘Crazy’

Originally written and recorded by a young Willie Nelson, “Crazy” became Cline’s biggest hit and one of the most popular country songs. It helped solidify Cline as a multi-genre star, since it charted well on the country and pop charts.

First Woman In The Country Music Hall Of Fame

Ten years after her death, Cline was honored as the first female inductee into the Country Music Hall Of Fame.

Her Enduring Legacy

Cline’s legacy lives on in buildings and memorials across the United States.

There’s even a museum dedicated to Cline in her restored childhood home.

Cline was taken from us far too soon, but she will always live on through her music. Happy 90th birthday, Patsy Cline!
