In the upcoming season of the ABC television show “Big Sky,” Reba McEntire is set to have the husband of her character Sunny Barnes played by her real-life boyfriend, Rex Linn!

Backstory: Reba McEntire And Rex Linn: A Love Story That Began During The Pandemic
‘We’re Having A Blast’
Linn, an actor with over 100 film and television credits to his name, is going to play Buck Barnes, who runs a glamping business with Sunny.
“We’re having a blast,” McEntire told Deadline. “We’re still in the middle of shooting. We were on set last night [August 11] and there was a full moon. I think we broke around 12:54 a.m. Mountain time. It was a long night but so beautiful. We are really loving it.”
Ever the supportive boyfriend, Linn was quick to rave about McEntire’s performance.
“Wait until you see her in this!” he said before McEntire confirmed that for the first time in her career, she’s playing a villain on this show.
‘Big Sky’ Season 3
McEntire’s character of Sunny “is described as the mercurial matriarch of the Brick Family, a successful backcountry outfitter with a secret history of missing customers.”
Based on the books by C.J. Box, “Big Sky” is a show that stars Kylie Bunbury as private detective Cassie Dewell, who investigates local crimes in her hometown of Helena, Montana with her former partner, Undersheriff Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick).
In season 3, Cassie and Jenny team up with the newly appointed sheriff Beau Arlen (Jensen Ackles) to take on Sunny, a charismatic outfitter who leads a local backcountry trip that took a disastrous turn.

McEntire And Linn’s Relationship
McEntire and Linn had been friends for decades before their relationship took a romantic turn at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Rex and I have known each other since ’91 when we were in The Gambler movie together with Kenny Rogers and then have known each other, kept in contact,” McEntire said in October of last year, according to People Magazine.
“And then in 2020 when Mama got sick, he called me,” she added. (Her mother Jacqueline died of cancer.) “We’d gotten to see each other before because we’re both on ‘Young Sheldon.’ So starting in March of 2020, we just kept talking and visiting and finally got together, see each other in June. And we’ve been pretty much inseparable ever since.”

McEntire Happier Than Ever
McEntire appears to be happier than ever with Linn.
“It’s good to have a person to talk to, laugh with, get into subjects about what’s going on,” she said in 2020. “Discussions about our past, our family, funny stories, him being an actor, me being an actress. And he’s very into my music. I’m very into his career. It’s just great getting to talk to somebody who I find very interesting, very funny, very smart and is interested in me, too.”
McEntire has been married twice, with her first husband being Charlie Battles, to whom she was married from 1976 until they divorced in 1987. She then married Narvel Blackstock in 1989, remaining with him for 26 years until they divorced in 2015 in a split that she openly admitted was very difficult for her. Meanwhile, Linn has never been married, but he was engaged to Renee DeRese in 2010.
We’re so glad to see that McEntire has found love again and that things seem to be going so well between her and Linn. We would like to wish the two of them many years of happiness to come!
