Oleksandr Usyk wants Tyson Fury for his next opponent.
Usyk bested Anthony Joshua in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, retaining his three heavyweight boxing championships. The split decision went in favor of Usyk, who improved to 20-0 overall and 2-0 vs. Joshua.
Back in September in London, it was Joshua defending his titles against Usyk. The result went the same, but the effort by Joshua was much-improved.
One of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world, Usyk called for a bout with Fury. The 35-year-old currently holds the WBA, WBO and IBF titles. Fury, meanwhile, is the reigning WBC champion.
“I’m sure that Tyson is not retired yet,” he said. “I’m sure. I’m convinced he wants to fight me. I want to fight him.
“And if I’m not fighting Tyson, I’m not fighting at all.”
Fury announced his retirement this past April when he bested Dillian Whyte. He changed his mind shortly after, but again stated plans to retire.
During the 12-round contest with Joshua, Usyk landed 170 strikes, including 131 power punches. Joshua connected on 124 with 101.
