Nate Diaz Signing For The PFL Would Be Needle-Moving Move

Nate Diaz is set to become a free agent after competing inside the UFC’s Octagon later this year.

What will become of Diaz after that?

He has discussed his desire to be on the open market and test himself. He could head to boxing, as he has mentioned a few times in the past.

But the sport of mixed martial arts is where Diaz has made his name. And it is where Diaz would have the most success.

That could leave the PFL as a possible landing spot. In fact PFL CEO Peter Murray recently discussed such a thing.

“Absolutely,” Murray said (thanks to MMA Fighting). “We have capital, we have the wherewithal and we’re not a regional player.”

The PFL has signed talents such as Anthony Pettis, Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Rory MacDonald, along with keeping big-names like Kayla Harrison.

Along with that, they could make a strong case for allowing Diaz to test himself in boxing. The PFL has boxing world champion Claressa Shields signed to a contract, as she made her MMA debut last year.

By adding Diaz, he could go into the upcoming plans for super-fight pay-per-view events that the PFL has discussed. The value that his name brings would generate some incredible ratings.

Diaz will face Khamzat Chimae at UFC 279 on September 10. The bout will be the main event and contested over five rounds.
