Clint Eastwood’s Daughter Opens Up About Her Dad

Clint Eastwood may be known as one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, but he’s also a father of eight children. Now, Eastwood’s daughter Alison is opening up about what her relationship with her dad is like.

Eastwood’s Daughter On Her Father

Alison, 50, is the daughter of Eastwood and his first wife Maggie Johnson, who he married in 1953. The couple quickly escaped Hollywood, raising Alison and her brother Kyle in Pebble Beach on California’s Carmel Bay.

“It’s a magical spot on the ocean, and there’s lots of wildlife,” Alison recalled to Closer Weekly. 

“When we were kids, my dad would take my brother and I for dinner and people would come up to him for autographs,” she added. “He’s not someone who craves that. He’s down-to-earth, enjoys nature and jazz and hanging out and having a beer.”

Though Alison saw less of her father when he and Johnson divorced in 1984, she’s close to the 92-year-old actor today.

“I see my dad more than ever,” she said, adding that Eastwood has remained “good friends” with Johnson. 

Every year, the entire blended Eastwood family comes together to celebrate Thanksgiving. 

“It’s very much an extended family,” Alison explained. 

Alison has also said that her father is very different in real life from many of the characters he’s played onscreen. 

“My dad is a much more cool and laid-back guy than a lot of his characters,” Alison said. “He has a wonderfully dry, dark sense of humor.”

Eastwood Wanted His Kids To Follow His Passions

After being encouraged by her father to follow her passions in life, so she founded Eastwood Ranch Foundation, a nonprofit animal rescue group that also partners with Migos Dog, a fresh dog food line.

“Both my parents are kind, loving people. I think that’s probably why I have such a deep love for animals,” Alison said. “My father also says there’s no reason to be here unless you’re making the most of your life and doing what you want to do. So we’re setting up a rescue facility and adoption center to give dogs and kittens a loving home.”

Alison’s half-brother Scott, who has become a successful actor himself, has also said that Eastwood encouraged him to find his passion and follow it. 

“Dad didn’t care if I was a plumber or an actor,” Scott stated. “He said, ‘Whatever you do, just do it well. Be humble about what you do, be a good guy and tell the truth.’”

Eastwood’s Latest Project

As for Eastwood, who turned 92 last month, he’s still as busy as ever with directing and acting. His most recent film Cry Macho came out last year, and he both directed and starred in it. 

“[Cry Macho] is about a man who has been through some hard times in his life and then unexpectedly another challenge is brought to the foreground,” Eastwood previously told Entertainment Weekly. “He would normally never do it, but he is a man of his word. He follows through. And it starts his life over again.”

Eastwood is truly an incredible person, and his children are lucky to have someone like him in their lives. We can’t wait to see what other projects he brings to the big screen in the years to come!
