Philip Baker Hall, Legendary Actor And Seinfeld Star, Dies at 90

Philip Baker Hall, a veteran actor, known for playing gruff but complicated authority figures on Seinfeld and in various blockbusters, passed away at age 90.

Hall’s career spanned six decades and included starring roles in some of the most iconic films and television shows. 

Philip Baker Hall’s Career

Born in Ohio, Hall didn’t start acting until he was in his 30s and didn’t achieve real success until his mid-40s, going on to star in over 186 film and television roles.

Hall’s most iconic performance came as a guest star on Seinfeld. Hall played the no-nonsense noir library cop Bookman in a performance that stood out on a show known for its oddball guest stars.

In addition to Seinfeld, Hall starred in a slew of movies, including several Paul Thomas Anderson films, Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, and Magnolia. 

It was Hall’s decision to star in a low-budget short that kick-started Anderson’s career.

What He Meant To Me

On a personal note, Philip Baker Hall was a big inspiration in my life. Like Hall, I decided to give acting a shot in my 30s. You’re never too old and it is never too late to pursue your dreams in life
