D-Von Dudley is a legend in the land of tag team wrestling. He recently went under the knife for spinal fusion surgery, essentially ending his career in the squared circle. He’s currently a WWE backstage producer and missed some work due to recovery. Word has it, his return to NXT is taking place very soon.
The former multiple tag champion hopped on Twitter to announce that he’ll finally return to NXT this Tuesday night. He notes in the post that he’s feeling great, too.
He originally stated he was set to return in June. However, a few weeks off doesn’t matter all that much.
In the tweet, he also reveals his appreciation for his new NXT role in Orlando. He is also thankful to keep doing what he loves.
Simply put, Dudley brings to the table an enormous about of knowledge for WWE’s developmental brand. He’s been anxiously wanting to return to work for a while.
D-Von is a multiple tag team champion in many promotions including WWE, Impact, and NPJW. He was also inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018, along with his tag mate, Bubba Ray.
Speaking of tag teams, over to AEW news. Seems like the company has some interesting plans for the Acclaimed.
What could Tony Khan have planned? Read more on this, below.
While the tag team has been working with the Gunn Club a lot lately, there’s been tension. Especially since Billy Gunn’s own sons believe he favors Anthony Bowens and Max Caster.
What’s in store for these two? Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer chimes in on all this in a recent edition.
With Gunn’s annoyance over his own sons, plus the rise in popularity of the Caster and Bowens, there’s a chance these two men could turn face. As per Meltzer, this appears to be where the angle is heading now.
At the end of the day, Billy is treating the Acclaimed like they are his sons. Plus, his own sons don’t seem to be acting on common sense.
Meltzer believes Billy’s sons will turn on the Acclaimed, thus, having them transform into baby faces. Only time will tell.
The tag team is strong at getting live fans hyped up. Even though they are heels, they haven’t gotten that much heat from the crowd during their time.
Therefore, it’s the natural progression for a team like this. AEW fans should stay tuned to what will happen next.
Bowens and Caster worked their first tag match in AEW in the fall of 2020 during a Dark episode. They defeated Best Friends, Trent, and Chuck Taylor.
The Acclaimed made their “official” debut on AEW in December that year. At that point, they faced SCU, Frankie Kazarian, and Christopher Daniels, plus, beat them.
There’s clearly a bright future for the Acclaimed in AEW. Here’s hoping they receive a nice tag team titles run, soon.
