Matthew McConaughey Teams Up With Kenny Chesney For A Country Music Duet

The Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey teamed up with the country music star Kenny Chesney for a powerful duet at a charity event this week.

McConaughey And Chesney Perform Duets

Wide Open Country reported that McConaughey and Chesney performed together at the 10th annual Mack, Jack & McConaughey Charity Gala (MJ&M), which was held in Austin, Texas at the ACL Live at the Moody Theater.

Video shows McConaughey taking the stage to perform “When The Sun Goes Down,” which can be heard on Chesney’s eighth studio album, with the beloved country music icon.

McConaughey proceeded to perform two more songs, singing “Setting The World On Fire” and “American Kids.” While everyone knew that Chesney had singing chops, it came as a surprise to many that McConaughey can sing as well!

The chemistry between McConaughey and Chesney is evident in the video of their performances, as it’s clear that the two of them have been friends for many years.

Charity Event Raises $8 Million

This charity event was a massive success, raising $8 million for the Dell’s Children Medical Center of Central Texas, just keep livin Foundation, CureDuchenne, The Rise School of Austin, and HeartGift. The event had various big-name sponsors that included Nike, Neiman Marcus, and Spotify.

While Chesney was the headline act this year, past headliners for the event have been the likes of The Chicks, Miranda Lambert, and Chris Stapleton. It was certainly kind for Chesney to take the time to do this, given the fact that he is currently busy traveling around the country on his Here and Now Tour.

Camila Alves Celebrates

McConaughey’s wife Camila Alves took to Instagram to celebrate ten years of this event raising money for those in need.

“10 YEARS!” Alves, 40, wrote on Instagram, captioning a photo of her and McConaughey as they posed in color-coordinated ensembles at the event. “We celebrated this past weekend of @mackjackmcconaughey empowering kids from heart transplants to after school programs AND many things in between all for kids!

“The goal is to raise as much as possible for kids while having a lot of fun!!” she added. “The wives united our power and all together the event is a 2 and half day deal… from music to golf to fashion!!”

McConaughey Says ‘Thank You’

McConaughey himself also celebrated by posting a photo of himself with the other two co-founders Brown and Ingram as they stood together in front of a billboard that read “A toast to 10 years of Mack, Jack & McConaughey.”

“Thank you,” McConaughey simply and poignantly captioned the post.

In a world where celebrities often seem more self-centered than ever, it’s refreshing to see stars like McConaughey and Chesney who are willing to go all out to give back. If only we had more celebrities in the world like them!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
