The 2022 CMT Music Awards took place on Monday night, and one of the best moments of the show came when country music star Jason Aldean teamed up with Bryan Adams to perform the powerful song “Heaven.”
Billboard reported that Aldean and Adams were nominated for a CMT Music Award for collaborative video of the year back in 2010 for their performance of “Heaven” in “CMT Crossroads.”
During last night’s award show, the pair performed outside in the rain at Music City’s iconic Lower Broadway. Despite the downpour, the crowd got very into the performance, as they could be heard cheering on Aldean and Adams like crazy.

Last night, Aldean actually one the first award of the evening when he and Carrie Underwood came out victorious for their duet “If I Didn’t Love You” winning Video of the Year.
Here’s their duet:
Aldean said, “Seventeen years in the game and this is the first time I ever won Video of the Year so this is pretty amazing to me.”
Underwood also performed at the awards show on Monday night, taking the stage for a haunting performance of her song “Ghost Story.”
Prior to the CMT Music Awards, Aldean said that he is open to collaborating with Underwood again in the future.
“I’m open to that!” Aldean said when asked about a future collaboration, according to People Magazine. “I mean, I’m always open to collaborating with anybody. I felt like, with this particular song, Carrie was the voice that I heard for this song.”

Aldean went on to say that when it comes to his duet partners, it’s the music that dictates who they are.
“We did a song with Miranda [Lambert] couple years back and you know it was more of a traditional kind of country thing that I heard Miranda on that song,” he said. “So I really feel like the songs dictate where you go with a duet partner. But I really enjoyed working with Carrie and if something comes up and we have a chance to do it again, and the song’s right, I’m definitely in.”
Aldean is preparing for the release of his upcoming double album “Macon, Georgia,” which is his hometown, on April 22.
“That’s where it all started for me, that’s where I learned to play music and be an entertainer and learned how to do all this stuff,” Aldean said of the album. “So for me it was kind of like full-circle moment.”
Here’s one of his already released songs from his new album, co-written by Morgan Wallen.
No wonder Aldean is one of the most popular stars in the country music world right now! We can’t wait to see what lucky singers he collaborates with in the future.
