Two nights of WrestleMania is a lot of time to fill. Not every match will be a five-star classic or have an incredible build. That doesn’t mean that these matches won’t matter or won’t be good. They simply aren’t at the front of people’s minds.
So let’s take a look at the undercard for WrestleMania 38. The card is undoubtedly the most diverse in recent memory, with tag matches, celebrity matches, and a few fun surprises here and there. This is in descending order by how much I care about the match.
RKBro has been one of the most wholesome tag teams in recent memory. Space cadet Riddle pairs perfectly with no-nonsense and no friend Randy Orton*.
Street Profits and Alpha Academy are the next generation of tag-teams for a division that desperately needs some newer, established blood. This match will be fun and hopefully will include the three deadliest leaders in sports entertainment…
Pat McAfee gets his second in-ring opportunity against the man who is seemingly Mr. McMahon’s handpicked Next Big Thing**.
Austin Theory has all the tools to be a big big star. He’s got the charisma and moves to be the next mega heel. And he’s only 24. Sheesh. This one should be fun.
The Usos are the best tag team going and running for the best tag team of all time. While they’ve been acting as heavies for their cousin Roman, they’ve still put on incredible matches and have stood out on their own.
Nakamura & and the guitar-wielding Boogs SHOULD have one of the best entrances of Mania weekend, with Boogs shredding and screeching as Nakamura makes his way down the ramp.
But as fun as these two teams are, it seems more like a placeholder to make sure the Usos are on the card. I expect this finish to perhaps factor into how the Usos interfere in the main event.
I understand wanting to get as many people on the card as possible. But this reeks of an overcrowded match that will get shoe-horned in between two the audience will care for. Wouldn’t surprise me if this gets knocked to the pre-show.
It is never a good sign when the most significant part of a feud is when one of the participants breaks his neck. That’s all I have to say about this. Except
BUTCH
McIntyre carried WWE through the pandemic and is now in a joke feud with the most annoying guy on the roster. I hope this one is quick with Drew impaling Moss on his sword. Moss & Corbin are grating as all get out, so I guess that means they’re great at their jobs.
Omos needs to find some personality. Bobby Lashley needs to find some momentum. I need to find some reason not to go to the bathroom during this match.
Which matches are you looking forward to? Let us know in the comments below.
*rumor is they enjoy the same um…recreational.. activities
** Let’s hope Austin doesn’t have to go through whatever Drew McIntyre & Fandango had to do to make it on top eventually.
