Flashback: Tiger Woods Bursts Into Tears As He’s Inducted Into World Golf Hall Of Fame By His 14-Year-Old Daughter

Golf legend Tiger Woods could not help but break down in tears on Wednesday night as he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame when his 14-year-old daughter Sam introduced him.

Woods Becomes Emotional Talking About His Parents

Daily Mail reported that when Woods took the stage, he didn’t talk about his iconic career that included 82 victories on the PGA Tour and 15 majors. Instead, he talked about how his parents sacrificed everything for him. They even took out a second mortgage on their house just to fund him playing on the junior circuit in California.

Woods became particularly emotional when he mentioned how his late father taught him that he must work to earn everything he wants in life.

Take a look at his touching speech:

“If you don’t go out there and put in the work, you don’t go out and put in the effort, one, you’re not going to get the results,” Woods said. “But two, and more importantly, you don’t deserve it. You need to earn it. So that defined my upbringing. That defined my career.”

Sam Woods Introduces Her Dad

When introducing her dad, Sam said that he had taught both her and her younger brother these same life lessons. Woods has a daughter, Sam, and a son Charlie, from his marriage to Swedish model Elin Nordegren. The two divorced in 2010.

“You’re a fighter,” she told Woods from the stage. “You’ve defied the odds every time – being the first black and Asian golfer to win a majors, being able to win your fifth Masters after back surgeries, and being able to walk just a few months after your crash.”

This was a reference to Woods’ major car crash last year that could quite possibly have claimed his life.

“Dad, I inducted you into the Dad Hall of Fame a long time ago, but today, I am so proud to present my dad, Tiger Woods, into the World Golf Hall of Fame,” Sam concluded.

Woods Talks Racism In Golf

In Woods’ speech, he also told a story about once not being allowed into a country club because of his skin color when he was a playing a junior tournament there. Instead of letting this break him, it just added fuel to his fire.

“So I was denied access into the clubhouses. That’s fine. Put my shoes on here in the parking lot,” Woods recalled. “I asked two questions only, that was it. Where was the first tee, and what was the course record? Not complicated.”

Charlie Sifford was the first African-American to be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2004 and .

Woods’ car crash in February of 2021 left him with multiple right leg fractures, ankle bone injuries, and trauma to his soft tissue. This required him to undergo grueling surgery and physical therapy. He has not been able to play much golf since then.

Woods announced back in November that he will not returning to the PGA full-time again, closing a book on a storied career the likes of which will never be equaled. If anyone deserves to be in the World Golf Hall of Fame, it’s Tiger Woods.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
