Kelly Clarkson Forced To Pay Ex Brandon Blackstock $1.3M As She Finally Settles Nasty Divorce

Nearly two years after Kelly Clarkson first filed for divorce from her now ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, it has finally been finalized. While Clarkson is undoubtedly relieved that this chapter in her life is over, she’s not closing it without having to pay up in a big way.

But first, check out Clarkson paying tribute to Dolly Parton at the ACM Awards earlier this week with a stirring rendition of “I Will Always Love You.” Perhaps she was performing with a weight off her shoulders, as she must have known her divorce was soon coming to an end.

Clarkson Must Pay Up To Blackstock

Daily Mail reported that the terms of the divorce settlement state that Clarkson must pay Blackstock a lump sum of $1,326,161. She also must pay him $115,000 per month in spousal support until January 31, 2024, and $45,601 per month in child support for their two young children: 7-year-old River and 5-year-old Remington.

While Clarkson and Blackstock will have joint custody of the children, they will live with their mother in Los Angeles, and travel to see their father in Montana one weekend each month.

Clarkson has agreed to pay a “reimbursement” payment of $50,000 for private air travel for the children. They will still be traveling on private planes until they have each been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Blackstock will be moving out of their Montana ranch in June, and until then, he’ll be paying Clarkson $12,500 a month in rent. Court papers state that he will keep their “farm cattle, livestock, stock dogs, and horses, a golf simulator,” as well as hunting items that include an ATV and snowmobiles.

What Clarkson Is Getting

Meanwhile, Clarkson was awarded the “family pets…all guns acquired prior and during the marriage,” and a baby grand piano.

She will also be taking some other equipment like a Can-Am 4-wheeler and a bush hog. As for vehicles, Clarkson will be keeping one of their pick-up trucks, a Ford Bronco, a Ford F-250, and a Porsche Cayenne.

News of the settlement comes as somewhat of a surprise, given the fact that a source close to Clarkson said back in January that she would not “even entertain the idea” of agreeing to a settlement of any kind with Blackstock.

“She is devoting 100 percent of any free time she has preparing for the trial,” this source said at the time. “When not filming her talk show, she is hunkered down with [attorney] Laura Wasser.”

Wasser is known for being one of the most famous divorce lawyers in Hollywood.

“She will not even entertain the idea of settling with Brandon,” the insider added. “He will not get one penny from her that isn’t ordered by the judge. It’s going to be nasty.”

Clarkson’s ‘Horrible’ Divorce

Clarkson had been married to Blackstock for seven years before she filed for divorce in June of 2020, citing irreconcilable differences.

She admitted that her divorce got “horrible” at times as they fought over both custody and financial details. Watch Clarkson address her divorce in September of 2020 in the video below.

Divorces are never fun, even when they’re far more amicable than this one was. We’re glad that Clarkson and Blackstock have finally settled theirs so that they and their children can hopefully move on with their lives for the better.
