Jocqui Smollett

Jocqui Smollett, Jussie’s brother, claims there is “absolutely no evidence” that Jussie staged his hate crime and lied about it at all, despite the fact that he was found guilt. And, the vast majority of the public seems to think that Smollett is as guilty as well.

Plus, disgraced former “Empire” star Jussie Smollett is currently serving a 150-day jail sentence.

Jocqui Claims Jussie Was Wrongfully Convicted

Jocqui took to his Instagram Story to make his case that his brother is actually innocent.

“I want y’all to Google right now the long list of ‘wrongful convictions’ in the United States,” Jocqui said, according to Newsweek. “There were 150 exonerations in 2018 alone aka the government realizing they wrongfully convicted someone.”

“Y’all blindly believe in our criminal justice system so much that you think a guilty verdict means the crime was committed—there is absolutely no evidence linking Jussie to staging his own hate crime besides the testimony of two brothers,” he added. “That’s ‘he said she said,’ not litigation.”

Jussie claimed in January of 2019 that he was jumped in Chicago by two men who hurled racist and homophobic attacks at him while also shouting “this is MAGA country!” He also claimed that they tied a noose around his neck before pouring a substance that is suspected to be bleach on him.

However, police eventually concluded that Jussie had paid the brothers Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo to attack him in the hopes that the attack would garner him enough fame that he could secure a bigger salary on “Empire.”

Jocqui Smollett Doubles Down

Despite this, Jocqui still believes his brother is innocent.

“Are you not terrified of the precedent this now sets?” he wrote on his Instagram Story. “That means you could hang out with some folks, one of them being your friend and then all it takes is those two individuals saying you did something for you to be convicted guilty of a crime!!! Wild!!!”

“No concrete evidence at all and the government locks you up—I keep getting DM’s ‘But there’s overwhelming evidence’—there absolutely is not and if you think that you’ve clearly been manipulated by the media due to lacking critical thinking skills,” Jocqui concluded.

Jussie ‘Not Suicidal’

After being sentenced last Thursday evening, Jussie lashed out at the judge, saying that he is “not suicidal.”

“If I did this, then it means that I stuck my fist in the fears of Black Americans in this country for over 400 years and the fears of the LGBT community,” Jussie said before being led away to jail. “Your Honor, I respect you and I respect the jury but I did not do this. And I am not suicidal. And if anything happens to me when I go in there, I did not do it to myself. And you must all know that.”

Jocqui Smollett can defend his brother all that he wants to, but the evidence actually does point to Jussie staging his hate crime. He tried to play off the racial and political divides that are plaguing our nation for his own personal gain, so one can’t help but feel that he has gotten exactly what he deserves.
