Bubba Wallace came unglued on Sunday during a race in Phoenix, where he lost it in a profanity-laced rant.
Wallace drives the #23 Toyota for 23XI Racing and Kurt Busch joined the organization as part of an expansion to a two-car team driving the #45 Toyota.
Sportscasting reported that Wallace kicked off the race in 27th place, but he soon was able to make his way into the top 20. Unfortunately for him, a pit stop that went south left him down a lap or more for much of the rest of the race. He ultimately unraveled as he yelled at his team over his radio.
“I am trying to stay f****** calm, but I am f****** over it. … F****** terrible,” he screamed.

Wallace ended up finishing the race in 22nd place. Freddie Kraft, Wallace’s spotter, tried to excuse his anger by saying that it was a bad day for anyone driving a Toyota in the race.
“You could’ve probably heard this if you scanned anybody with a Toyota emblem on the front of their car,” Kraft said. “To be honest, none of the Toyotas ran very well…I looked up at one point in the middle of the race and the highest running Toyota was 14th or 15th.”
“It was just a frustrating day yesterday. We made mistakes that just kinda compounded mistakes and ruined our day,” he added. “We’ll get back and be better for the next one, I’m sure.”
Kraft went on to talk about the pit stop that cost Wallace dearly.
“Bubba had slid into the box one time and got us too close to the left side wall so we couldn’t get the car jacked up properly, ended up going from 15th all the way back to 30th,” he said. “And on that run, the longer green run was the run where the leaders got around the back of the pack and we were still trapped back there.”
“We lost a lap there and that kinda just set in motion, the rest of our race, we were kinda trapped a lap down,” Kraft continued. “It was just a frustrating day.”

Just before the race, Wallace had ironically taken to Twitter to share a positive message about mental health.
“Shoutout to my mentally fogged people,” he tweeted. “Your prolly questioning if the journey is worth it… Questioning if your worth it.. The answer is never clear but I do know there is another day tomorrow. I feel you. I see you. I love you.”
Wallace made a name for himself in 2020 by driving a Black Lives Matter car. He also convinced NASCAR to ban the Confederate flag from races.
It remains to be seen whether he can translate his success in the “woke” world to success on the racetrack, because he has yet to get the kind of consistent results that will make him into any kind of NASCAR legend.
