Tom Brady Hints He May Change His Mind About Retiring – ‘Never Say Never’

Last week, we reported that legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady announced that he was retiring after a 22-year career that saw him win seven Super Bowl titles. Now, Brady has hinted that he could change his mind about retiring in the future.

‘Never Say Never’

While appearing on the Let’s Go podcast this week, Brady suggested that he may not be done with football after all.

“I’m just going to take things as they come. I think that’s the best way to put it. You never say never,” Brady said. “At the same time, I feel very good about my decision. I don’t know how I’ll feel six months from now. It may change, it most likely won’t, but I try to make the best possible decision I can in the moment, which I did this last week.”

“I think it’s not looking to reverse course, I’m definitely not looking to do that. But, at the same time, I think you have to be realistic that you never know what challenges there are going to be in life,” he continued. “I love playing, I’m looking forward to doing things other than playing, that’s as honest as I can be.”

Brady Discusses Retirement

It’s incredibly surprising to see Brady speaking this way now, given the fact that he’s barely had a full week to enjoy his life in retirement. Should he change his mind immediately and decide to return in 2022, he would still be under contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to ESPN. 

“I think the choice is, everything certainly comes at a cost, and the cost is, ‘What am I missing out on other aspects of my life?'” Brady said of his decision to retire. “And things that are, as you get older, you experience things that are outside of the sport that demand the level of attention and energy that football has always gotten. And it’s time for me to commit to those types of things.

‘I’ve Had An Amazing Time’

“I’ve had an amazing time and place doing it, and I’m just … I am really excited for what’s ahead, and I don’t know what that means or where it takes me, but I know that it’ll be fun and exciting and I’m going to make the most of whatever opportunities present themselves as I go forward,” he continued. 

Assuming he moves forward with his retirement plans, Brady will be spending more time with his supermodel wife Gisele Bündchen and their two young children, as well as his 14-year-old son Jack from his previous relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan.

After his latest comments today, however, fans shouldn’t be too surprised to see Brady back on the field at some point in the future.
