The Good News (And The Bad) Of AJ Styles Re-Signing With WWE

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reports that AJ Styles has re-signed with WWE for a “big money” deal. It appears Styles is now one of the highest-paid members of the roster. AJ deserves all a big contract. The Phenomenal One has been a top performer for WWE since his debut and is still churning out excellent matches well into his 40s.

But depending on how you feel about AJ Styles and WWE in general, this could be a mixed back. Let’s break down the good and the bad of AJ Styles sticking with WWE.

The Good News Of AJ Styles Re-Signing

Styles seems to enjoy himself in WWE. He’s talked about what a good fit he’s been in the company and the great matchups he’s had while in the “Fed.”

A few weeks back, he had an absolute banger of a match with Rey Mysterio. The two vets proved that they’re two of the best to ever do it while still being able to put on an excellent effort.

AJ has a few good years left, and he can continue in his role as an elder statesman who can help emerging talent. Plus, he will forever be a credible title threat and main eventer.

Styles has at least one more solid championship run in him, and I could see him being set up with another young up-and-comer for a tag title run.

In WWE, AJ can have a secured spot. With AEW, he becomes an also-ran who is one loss to Young Bucks away from being on Elevation wrestling the dinosaur guy.

…And The Bad News.

This isn’t good if you’re an AEW diehard. This is probably AJ’s final contract,  which means he won’t appear on Dynamite. The good news is that many of the “dream matches” fans would want have already happened.

Styles wrestled Danielson, Punk, and Adam Cole during his time on the indies and in Ring of Honor.

But Styles has never squared off against Kenny Omega, Adam Page, or a host of other up and comers on the AEW or indie rosters.

So, yes, Styles will continue to be an essential factor and star in WWE, and while that might irk some fans, Styles is thriving in WWE and looks to be in an excellent position to end his career on a high.

Do you think it was wise for Styles to re-sign with WWE? DO you feel he is being used properly? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
