If You Thought Whoopi Goldberg’s Holocaust Comments Were Bad, Here’s What Else She’s Gotten A Pass For Saying

Earlier this week, we reported that Whoopi Goldberg had been suspended by ABC from  “The View” for two weeks after she claimed that the Holocaust was not about race. Now, Goldberg’s past has come back to haunt her – this is far from the first time that she has put her foot in her mouth in such an offensive way.

Backstory: Calls Grow For Whoopi Goldberg To Be Fired After She’s Suspended From ‘The View’

But first, check out Goldberg’s comments about the Holocaust that got her into this latest mess in the video below.

Goldberg Defends Mel Gibson

When looking at Goldberg’s history, it quickly becomes clear that she’s been given free passes time and time again for saying things that would get most other celebrities cancelled.

For example, in 2010, Goldberg defended Hollywood actor Mel Gibson after he was caught making racist and anti-Semitic comments about Black and Jewish people. At the time, audio had just been released in which Gibson expressed his hope that Oksana Grigorieva, who he was dating at the time, would be “raped by a pack of n—ers.”

Despite this, Goldberg was quick to defend Gibson on “The View.”

“I don’t like what he did here,” she said at the time. “But I know Mel and I know he’s not a racist. He may be a bonehead. I can’t sit and say that he’s a racist, having spent time with him in my house with my kids.”

Goldberg Defends Bill Cosby

Goldberg also initially refused to condemn Bill Cosby in 2015 after he was accused of drugging and sexually assaulting dozens of women.

“In America still, I know it’s a shock, but you actually are innocent until proven guilty,” she said in July of that year, according to Mediaite. “He has not been proven a rapist.”

After receiving tons of backlash, Goldberg proceeded to double down the next day, saying, “Here’s the bottom line for me. It’s my opinion, and the American courts agree with me because still he has not been taken to jail or tried on anything. So back off me!”

Goldberg Defends Other Controversial Figures

Then there was the time that Goldberg defended Hollywood director Roman Polanski after he was arrested for having sex with a 13-year-old girl, saying that what he did was not “rape-rape.”

“I know it wasn’t rape-rape,” she said, according to The Guardian. “It was something else but I don’t believe it was rape-rape. He went to jail and and when they let him out he was like, ‘You know what, this guy’s going to give me a hundred years in jail. I’m not staying.’ So that’s why he left.”

Goldberg also defended former Ravens football player Ray Rice after video footage came out showing him violently assaulting his then-girlfriend.

“This is the thing: If anybody hits you, you have the right—I know that many people are raised in a very different way—but if a woman hits you, to me, you have the right to hit her back,” Goldberg said, according to The Root.

“If you make the choice as a woman who’s 4 foot 3 and you decide to hit a guy who’s 6 feet tall and you’re the last thing he wants to deal with that day and he hits you back, you cannot be surprised!” she continued, later adding, “I know I’m going to catch a lot of hell, and I don’t care. But you have to teach women, do not live with this idea that men have this chivalry thing still with them; don’t assume that that is still in place.”

Goldberg Given Free Pass After Free Pass

If a conservative woman said even one of these things on live television, she undoubtedly would be fired at once and swiftly “cancelled” by the entire media and entertainment worlds.

Since Goldberg is a proud liberal who promotes the left-wing agenda on a daily basis, however, she’s been allowed to continue spewing her offensive blustering with virtually no consequences.

In the end, Goldberg’s suspension for her Holocaust comments is nothing more than a slap on the wrist. She’ll be back on “The View” in no time, and we can only imagine what offensive thing she’ll say next.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
