Colin Kaepernick Heckled After Leaving Knicks Game With Spike Lee

Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick got a brutal dose of reality last week when he attended a Knicks game, only to be heckled by the crowd there.

Fox News reported that as Kaepernick the New York Knicks’ game against the Memphis Grizzlies with Hollywood director Spike Lee, he was heckled outside Madison Square Garden. 

“Get outta here,” one person yelled at him. “You’re a bum. Could never throw a football.”

Kaepernick did his best to ignore the hecklers, keeping his face looking forwards as he got into a waiting SUV.

Lee Directing Kaepernick Docuseries

This came after it was announced that Lee will be directing a docuseries about Kaepernick’s life for ESPN Films. 

“Kaepernick, who has never given a full, first-person account of his journey, is collaborating closely with Lee who plans to use extensive new interviews and a vast never-before-seen archive to help Kaepernick tell his story from his perspective,” ESPN said in a statement obtained by TMZ. 

The former football player spent years being the quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, but he became a controversial figure during the 2016 season, when he began taking a knee during the national anthem before his games.

Though he claimed he was doing so to protest against racial inequality in America, many saw this as a clear sign of disrespect to those who have fought and died for our flag.

Kaepernick left the 49ers at the start of the 2017 season, and he has not been signed by another team in the years since then.

Though liberals have tried to turn him into a martyr of sorts, claiming that he has not been signed by another team for racial reasons, others have pointed out that he led the 49ers to an abysmal losing record during his final season with the team.

This indicates that Kaepernick’s lack of football skill is likely the bigger reason as to why he has not been able to get another team to sign him.

Kaepernick’s Deal With Disney

Deadline reported that in 2020, Kaepernick signed an overall first-look deal with The Walt Disney Company through his Ra Vision Media. 

“I am excited to announce this historic partnership with Disney across all of its platforms to elevate Black and Brown directors, creators, storytellers, and producers, and to inspire the youth with compelling and authentic perspectives,” Kaepernick said at the time. “I look forward to sharing the docuseries on my life story, in addition to many other culturally impactful projects we are developing.”

The Lee-directed docuseries appears to be part of this deal. It’s unfortunate to see that Kaepernick is still making millions by bashing America and playing off the racial tensions in this country. The left can make him a martyr all they want to, but Kaepernick shouldn’t be surprised if he continues to get heckled even more in the months and years to come.
