Flashback: Randy Travis Pays Emotional Tribute To Meat Loaf After His Passing

Last week, we reported that legendary rocker Meat Loaf had passed away at the age of 74 following a battle with COVID-19. Now, country music star Randy Travis is speaking out to pay a touching tribute to the late entertainer.

Travis Honors Meat Loaf

“The news of, Marvin ‘Meat Loaf’ Aday’s, passing brought me sadness; but, it also gave me a reminiscent smile as I thought about the exuberance with which he lived his life,” Travis said, according to Fox News. “It wasn’t possible to part Meat Loaf’s company without a spring in your step and a song in your heart—my ‘Black Dog’ days on set with him, and Patrick Swayze, remain some of my most cherished.”

“When we ran into each other over the years, in the music world or the movie realm, I felt I just spent time with an old friend—he never changed,” he added. “His cup wasn’t half full or half empty, it was filled to the brim; and, his shy demeanor in social arenas was certainly overshadowed when he was in front of the camera, or on his stage!”

“God bless you and keep you—thank you for sharing him with us,” Travis ended.

Tributes Pour In For Meat Loaf

Tributes have been pouring in for Meat Loaf since his death, with British television personality Piers Morgan calling him one of “rock music’s all-time great characters whose seminal iconic album Bat Out Of Hell is one of the biggest-selling records in history. A wondrously talented, flamboyant, funny, outrageous and rebellious chameleon. Sad news.”

Actress Tia Carrere, who starred with Meat Loaf in the 1992 film Wayne’s World, told Fox News that contrary to his onstage persona, he was a kind and thoughtful soul.

“Meatloaf had this fierce rock and roll persona and seemed so intense in his music, but anyone meeting him knows how kind and contemplative a man he was,” she said. “He will be missed.”

Actor Ed Norton posted a photo of himself and Meat Loaf appearing in the 1999 movie Fight Club.

“I don’t keep pictures from films around home,” Norton wrote alongside the image. “But I have this one in my office in a frame bc it makes me smile every time. It’s engraved ‘Love and Hugs, Meat’ it sums him up well. He was so funny. And gentle. And warm to everyone. A sweet soul. RIP Meat Loaf.”

Rest in peace, Meat Loaf. You will be dearly missed.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
