Martha Stewart Reveals She Was Struck By Lightning 3 Times – ‘It Actually Is Good For You’

Legendary lifestyle guru Martha Stewart is claiming that she was struck by lightning three times in her life, and the 80 year old is alleging that it “actually is good for you.”

While appearing on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Stewart was asked if she really was struck by lightning.

“Yeah, I mean, it’s like crazy,” Stewart said, according to Fox News. “I think it actually is good for you. If it doesn’t kill you, I think it’s good for you.”

When DeGeneres asked how it feels to be struck, Stewart said it’s “horrible.”

“Once it came out of a water faucet. I was leaning against an iron sink and I saw the lightning go down the pipe out in my garden and then it came back up through the water and hit me right in my stomach,” she recalled. “Threw me on the floor and my husband found me and I was alive, but not very comfortable.”

‘I Attract Electricity’

Stewart went on to say that the second time, the lightning bolt “came right through a skylight” in her house.

“I attract electricity,” she said with a laugh, saying that she’s “so powerful.”

While Stewart did not go into the third lightning strike in this interview, she told Express back in 2009 that she “was holding on to a metal stand” and once she let go, “the lightning came back out through my foot.”

Stewart Reveals Why She Dumped Anthony Hopkins – Talks Tattoos

During this same interview with DeGeneres, Stewart opened up about dating actor Anthony Hopkins in the 1990s. She revealed that she ultimately broke up with him because she could not disassociate Hopkins from his iconic character Hannibal Lecter. You may recall that from the 1991 movie Silence Of The Lambs.

“I have a big, scary house in Maine that’s way by itself on a hundred acres in the forest and I couldn’t even imagine taking Anthony Hopkins there,” she explained. “All I could think of was him eating – you know.”

Stewart also told DeGeneres that she does not have any ink on her body.

“I have no tattoos. I wouldn’t think of having a tattoo,” Stewart said, to which DeGeneres replied, “I wouldn’t either, but I just thought, you’re tough.”

“It’s not about being tough — it’s about, you know, growing old with tattoos that get stretched out and ugly,” Stewart explained, according to The New York Post. “Let other people get tattoos.”

One thing is for sure, and that is that Stewart is not short on personality!
