Nate Diaz All The Talk Around Recent UFC Weekend Event

Despite not competing, Nate Diaz was on the mind of many this past weekend.

The former UFC contender was discussed by both UFC president Dana White and Clay Guida. 

White and the promotion have been looking to book Diaz against rising prospect Khamzat Chimaev. However, Diaz has turned down the right, citing a lack of experience for Chimaev.

“Listen, everybody in this business, everybody in this company is here because they belong here,” White told TMZ (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “There are no real rookies, per see, here. There are guys with more experience and some guys with some less experience.

“Khamzat Chimaev is one of those guys that’s willing to fight anybody. In multiple weight classes. On short notice. He’s doing wrestling matches. 

“If it’s a fight, he’s in and he wants to fight you. And that’s the reality. People can spin Khamzat however they want to; and I don’t blame them.”

White added that Chimaev is a “straight murderer. He’s a killer.” 

Guida, who earned a win over Leonardo Santos at UFC Vegas 44, stated that he has been looking for a rematch with Diaz for over a decade. 

“I know you’re out there,” Guida said. “You can’t run. You can’t hide. I know you’re going to turn the fight down and probably won’t even know that we want to fight you, but if you ever want to do it again, I’ll give you a shot. Let me know.”

Guida scored a split decision over Diaz back at UFC 94 in 2009. The bout was named “Fight of the Night” for the card.
