Morgan Wallen Is Making Christmas Wishes Come True – Adopts 200 Angel Tree Children In Memphis

It’s been a difficult year for country music star Morgan Wallen. After the fallout from being caught on video using the N-word one drunken night that made him a target of cancel culture, the “Whiskey Glasses” singer is trying to show a different side. He’s opening his wallet to bless hundreds of local children in need through the Memphis Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program.

Salvation Army Thanks Morgan Wallen For Angel Tree Donation

The Salvation Army Memphis took to Facebook to thank Wallen and his team for donating $20,000 to their Angel Tree program after the country music star quietly adopted 200 angels.

“Our sincerest thanks to Morgan Wallen for his recent $20,000 donation to our #AngelTree program!” the charity said in a statement. “The award-winning country singer and his team spent hours inside the Walmart on Winchester Road Sunday after adopting 200 angels – checking each item off their wish lists and filling 32 shopping carts with toys and clothes for Mid-South children in need.”

The Salvation Army Memphis went on to say that Wallen made this stop at Walmart between three shows at the Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi. They punctuated the story with the hashtag “#HopeMarchesOn”.

What It Means To Morgan Wallen To Give Back At Christmas

“For me growing up, my parents, they always made sure that I had presents under the tree. I know that all kids are not as fortunate to have that same experience,” Wallen said, according to Fox17. “I got to partner up with The Salvation Army and Walmart to make a whole lot of kids happy this Christmas I hope we get to do it again next year.”

“Because of Wallen’s generosity, parents struggling this year with job loss, homelessness and the impact of the ongoing pandemic will be able to go to sleep on Christmas Eve knowing their children will wake up to gifts under the tree,” Salvation Army spokesperson Nina Harrelson told Desoto County News.

His N-Word Scandal & Cancel Culture

2021 has not been the easiest of years for Wallen. After being caught on camera using the N-word back in February, he was suspended from his recording contract indefinitely and his music was dropped from various radio stations. 

“I’m embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back,” Wallen said at the time, according to CNN. “There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better.”

“I was around some of my friends and we say dumb stuff together. In our minds it’s playful, you know?” Wallen, 28, said of his scandal in an interview that aired over the summer. “That sounds ignorant, but that’s really where it came from. And it’s wrong.”

Despite Wallen’s apologies, large donations to organizations fighting racism, and seeking counseling on the topic, the country star remains on the cancel culture mob’s blacklist. In September, Rolling Stone penned a story questioning the sincerity of the country singer’s amends which prompted a fact check by USA Today outlining actions take by Wallen.

Hopefully Morgan Wallen’s generosity in helping his local Salvation Army bless hundreds of children this Christmas will show his naysayers that his heart is in the right place. Maybe they’ll even allow him to resume his country music career in peace.
